I think this a photo with a strong visual impact because of the vibrant orange colors of the lily. I especially like the dark background because it makes the flower stand out in an excellent way. I also like how lovely the light is falling on it.
The photo is sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in the petals of the lily. The exposure is perfect.
The square format you have cropped the photo into works well, and the lily has got such a fine placement within the frame. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo Allan, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Stunning is the first word that came to mind when I saw this image of a lily. Its petals are twisting as though they are dancing with delight.
The solid black background accentuates this beauty and makes for a dynamic shot.
Camera Tech's are all stellar with fine detail that allows the viewer(s) a visual "Feel" of the soft texture.
