This is what photography is all about Allan.. recognizing the shot and getting superb results like this post.
Beautiful DOF - everything that needs to be seen in high relief is there and wonderfully juxtaposed by a nice complimentary background bokeh.
This is an excellent entry not so much for the Bombus quad, but for the excellent white balance control. When you get the whites to look white all the other supporting colors seem more vibrant and bolder just like in this shot - bravo.

This is an excellent entry not so much for the Bombus quad, but for the excellent white balance control. When you get the whites to look white all the other supporting colors seem more vibrant and bolder just like in this shot - bravo.

Wow. This photo is very clear, balanced, and interesting. The slightly blurred background allows the flower to pop out well. This is also thought provoking to me, as a writer. Why are they meeting? A quick bite with friends? Best wishes. Alex

I just love these paper like white poppies, and I especially like how well you have brought out the fine textures of the petals. It is truly amazing to see the four bees spaced evenly around the pistil. The background is nicely softened for the flower to stand out in an excellent way.
The petals of the flower is pin sharp but the very center and some parts of the bees could have been sharper. Still it is clear details to be seen, and the exposure and white balance is perfect.
The photo is nicely cropped and the poppy has got a fine placement within the frame. I think this is a lovely and well taken photo Allan, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Yes guess that is unusual to see four bees on one flower,but as you say they seem to be getting on with what they are doing and don,t seem bothered,good use of dof as well...Brian

A very lovely visual presented here with this amazing flower and insect display. I love the dark background that highlights the petals and draws the eyes into the flower to realize the bees are busy collecting Poland. Wonderful to view. The winner in my books.
