Cleo, technically, this is a strong photo and there is nothing wrong with the subject either. I like colours of the snake and the eye detail in particular. The snake just forms a small part of the overall image and I do no know how to fix that. Overall, and very subjectively it just does not grab me. On the other hand, your subject matter is unique and it is nice to see something other than birds, household pets and horses. Pavel

Thanks for your friendly and generous review. I don't hold it against you if it doesn't grab you. Happen all the time to all of us. It is always in the eye of the beholder.

This is a wonderful photograph with plenty of detail and superb colour. Focus is excellent. You have captured every detail and the composition is very good indeed. I particularly like the colours that you have captured here

The first thing I notice is the depth of field! Great job there, the color is very clear, but I think the composition could use a bit work! Great job at capturing this shot though!

Thank you very much for your review, Could you please specify what kind of work the composition need. I'm a little at a lose here.

As far as composition goes, it looks like there is a picture cut in half with the objects and colors that are currently there. The Plant in the background is cutting the picture almost straight down the middle, and it kind of detracts from the beautiful depth of field it has. If it were a bit more balanced, maybe from a different angle, I feel it would be more appealing.

I understand, . But there is some problem with getting the best angle and background. There is no more then a few seconds time for a shot like this. These guys move like lightnings. You never know when and where you see them. Just have to since the moment. [The plant in the background is the same tree she is slithering down]
But I learn from each critique and try to get better.

This is an interesting picture Cleo. I like the composition on this, but I find the brightness in the background distracting to me and takes away the clarity of the snake. Great notes, I always appreciate those. Shirley

Thanks for the kind review Shirly.
There is a problem to change the background. The photo is taken outdoors. You don't see these guys very often. Mostly they are camouflaged. If there is any background where the snake shows just have to shot in the given circumstances. I could have done work on it and darken the background with the program but the contest rules prohibit this.

Nice capture of this snake. I find the focus soft and the bright background distracts.

Thank you for your kind review.
Could you please specify why you find the focus soft. I believe it is on the snake. I can can't the scales. Were is it soft? I can't find it.
To change the background would be a problem. The photo is taken outdoors. The contest rules prohibit any Multi Media work. How I could change the background? please specify.

Very cool photo. She is quite beautiful. What an amazing green. I love the way this is framed with her coming into the picture like that. The background is very nice and not distracting. It does seem a bit grainy. But I love it. Thanks for sharing.

Isn't nature so wonderful in her art work. We have green tree snakes in Australia Lovely little critters. When my son was young he went to put his hand on the gate post and there was a green tree snake very nicely posing. He moved quicker then lighting. She is beautiful and the photo is very cool and calm to go with the nature of the snake. very good close up photo

Well, if she eats mosquitoes and doesn't bite me she could be my new best friend! LOL I do not like those insects at all--and am allergic besides.
I agree that she is a very pretty lady. Her colors are great. You have captured her in a great "pose" hanging out away from the branches. I like your dof on this one, really keeps the eye where it should be on the snake.

Thank you so much for your throughout review. Yes she eats the nasty insects. That's why I really like her. I got Dengue fever from Mosquitoes.
