Salutations and good evening, the idea is very good, but to me I would have made the blowing of the bubble gum the image by taking a close up of the boy and the bubble gum and bubble he is blowing. But to me having all that negative space dominates the image, being out of balance to the boy, detracts from what you are trying to show. Which also means that the close up would need to be in better focus. Anyway nice idea needs some work in my way of thinking based on what you wrote.

Thank you. I really appreciate your throuought review. I hope you aren't mad at me if I don't agree. A head shot shows a dirty faced kid blowing bubble gum. Thats not what I want to show. I wan't to show him in it's surrounding. I wan't to show his normal life. I want to show there is no special place were kids could play, not even a street just some place in the jungle were they live. I need the body language to show how proud he is to have a bubble gum and knowing how to blow it. That photo isn't staged but the documentation of a moment of life.
I have portrait shots from that village and will them post in time.

    Cleo85,
I never get mad when someone has a different opinion then my own. I jsut want to create communication and an exchange of ideas. I still think all of what you wanted to show could be done with a close up and a clearer, sharper looking image, that shows the bubble gum, and bubble better. even the emotion of pride.
Take care and I appreciate the response.
    cheers!
    Lucien

Thank you very much. I appreciate your communication very much. It wouldn't be normal if we would think always alike.

Lovely photo. Great subject. Well framed/cropped. Excellent depth of field. Great detail in both foreground and background. Great catch in his expression. Also like the dappled sunlight/shade.

Such a wonderfully expressive shot, Cleo. Expresses everything you say about him.

Did you teach him how to blow bubbles with the gum.

A very proud little fella and the expression you've caught on his face and the "boyish" body language says more than words could ever convey.

One of those photos that says it all. Plus - I love the rhythmic patterns and design you've caught on the ground and in the background behind him.

Your cultural shots are always outstanding.

Thank you for your beautiful review. No I didn't teach him the bubble blowing. He already did know that part. It's just that they can't go to the supermarket and by that stuff when ever they want to.

And that's why they so appreciate you. I do like this shot very much.

This is a cute photo! The angle works wel for this. The light works fine as you have alot of nice shadows in this shot and the shade really shows the image off well.

This is quite a catch you have here Heidi. This has a lot of story telling quality.

Greatly composed. The surroundings confirm that little kids don't need all the fancy playground equipment to have a good time.

He sure is a cute little feller. Good lighting and dynamic range here.

Good choice of subject matter.

This has great attractive value. You can't just look at it and leave it. Thanks for sharing this one. Scott

Kids are kids and boys are boys no matter where they live and to which nationality they belong. This is just excellent piece of photography. He seems to be a bit proud may be because he has chewing gum or may be because he know how to blow or may be you are taking his photo...Well done on all accounts. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much. I think you are right on. It's probably all three of what he is proud.
