I find this to be a very beautiful landscape, despite the destructive story it's telling. The mixture of the different elements (land, smoke, fire, sky) work well together. The work has a great balance, as well. Good luck to you, and stay safe.

The fire is now out in our area. It did get within 8 blocks of us, but then the wind shifted the other direction. I want to thank you for the great review and fantastic rating on this, MO!!

Impressive capture of the fury of the fires. Especially interesting how you show the smoke rising from the ground with the colors of the flames at a distance. Colors really blend in well for the appeal.

This is a wonderful portrayal of the fires that are buring and have burned in the southern California areas in the past.
It is hard for some to realize that when there is a blaze down south that they can be blown out of control very quickly and become very dangerous in an instant.
You have captured the true essence of the fire, the furocious buring of everything in its path, the heat and power of the blaze and the remnents it leaves, the black smoldering ash of what once was, plants, houses and wild life.
Though fires are very distructive they can produce very interesting and nice scenes to look at, the cloud of smoke is beautiful but the realization of the smoke is horrible, that things have been burned and destroyed because of it.
I was attending school in southern California a few years ago when the huge fire I beileve in San Bernardino was out of control and a State of emergency had to be ordered because it was so bad. You have really captured the feel of the blazes in this area and thank you for sharing.

This is a wonderfully compelling and dramatic work of art. I am originally from Southern California and can definitely appreciate how precarious this type of situation can be. I feel for you and hope that you were spared and that you are out of danger.

Wonderful creation, if only this was only in your mind and not for real, I saw the news, terrifying. I love your work, details in the foreground are so clear but, unfortunately the smoke is overtaking everything. Excellent expressive art, thank you for sharing, hope the fire will end soon.

It is out in our area, but I don't think they have it completely out everywhere. It is a huge fire, and covered many miles. Thank you so much for the generous review on this, Xennia!!

This really is a work of art, well done. You've really captured the emergency conditions of your area. I have been watching the news. I live in BC but my sister lives in CA and i always worry about them. Great job on the landscape and the flames and smoke.

Thank you, Lynseey! I hope your sister is not in the fire this area right now. I haven't watched the news yet today, but I think they have most of it out now. It did get within 8 blocks of us and then the wind shifted the other direction.

I've been wondering if we'd see any closeup photos of the fires, and at first I thought this was one. Absolutely amazing the detail and clarity you've captured here. The colors are so realistic, I don't know what else to say but Wow! Great job!

I have to say, this is a very original work! Not sure I ever would have thought of making a forest fire into art, but now that I've seen yours, I'm asking myself 'why didn't I think of this?'
Anyway beautifully done, especially the smoke. I suppose there really isn't anything beautiful about a forest fire, especially when you're watching your house get destroyed... But seen from the safety of a canvas or computer I can appreciate it a lot more! thanks!
Hope you manage to avoid any damage yourself!

Yes way too close for comfort. I have been watching the fires on the Australian T.V. It certainly is in full swing. The fires can move so fast within a blink of an eye. Hope all is improving but what a wonderful photo of something so destructive. keep safe

Thank you so much, Sandy, for the very thoughtful review. It is out in our area now. They finally were able to get the helicopters and bombers in here after daylight.

Thank goodness for that. The trouble with fires is that can be in the distance and on your doorstep with in mins. Over the years we had had them in Australia like that too.........Sandy

Moonwillow, gee the fires are making headlines here in Australia as well, we always wtch the fires in California closely as here, we too have the same problem, thank God we have had rain recently because that has delayed any flare ups. Will pray that you and your loved ones remain safe and your home is not affected. You make this so real and I wish I had another star available to give you for this. Please keep safe and will be looking out for an update from you to ensure you are safe!

Good to hear that all is ok with you guys- that is a relief, been watching CNN with more of a closer interest thinking of you packing up and preparing to leave if need be, it certainly makes it all so much more real and closer to home. Whew!
