Beautiful image with an almost abstract quality to it.The lighting and the soft colors are just so wonderfully done. Lastly the composition is just about as perfect as they can be. Nicely done with great interest.

I know of the night blooming cereus cactus that blooms just as you have described this one. Looks like it could be one. I have never had the opportunity to watch one bloom. Wonderful job you have done with this one. The black background really makes it jump right out. I like the illuminating effect achieved at the center of the bloom. Initial impact, technique, use of mixed media and composition are very good. Good luck in the contest. Thanks for sharing.

    Thank you so much fila.
This cactus is in some features similar to the cereus but it is a different species. There are other night blooming cactus as well. I will post pictures of different species in time. In my opinion the "Queen" is the most spectacular than the cereus. The curent picture is the beginning the flower is not the Queen jet just a princess in her teens.

Very impressive artistic effects here. The colors are harmonious and I like the movemnet in the different shapes as the eye has something to view constantly.

Thank you John, Older plants could bloom every year on different brunches but if they do account on the weather. It is said jung plants need 7 years before their first bloom. The blossom in the picture is just opening. I will post more pictures in time.

WOW! You made this to look like a light bulb of some sort. This does stand out great because of the great black background. Very nice colors here and you have done some major thinking to capture this Nice.

Thank you so much PoohBear, a handhold flashlight as only light source is the basic for the light bulb effect. I pointed the flashlight at the center of the flower. The effect were enhanced with several filters.

What a patient photographer you are. The time spent waiting for the flower to expand really paid off.

It shows almost like a Lantern with the golden light accents bursting the flower onto the scene nicely complimented by that jet-black background.

The vignette lighting technique really blends well with the background as we can clearly see the stem fade into the black.

Technically superior all around.

Masterful effort. You'll be tough to beat in the contest. Good luck!

Thank you so much, I have to admit it wasn't patience but wonder what let me stay up all night. It is a experience never to forget to see this flowers whole life through about 12 hours. You see literally the flower moving wile opening. I will accasionally post more pictures since I have a 'few'. The light effect is not all do to the program. I 'helped' a little by using an ordinary handhold flashlight in replacement of the usual photo lightning. I 'beamed' it to the center what gives a kind of 'light bulb' effect to the flower in the original photo.
