Lovely poppies. And this is a really nicely composed photo. I am from California and moved to Washington State when Iwas 32. The poppy is California's state flower, but in this part of Washington State, poppies grow like crazy. They grow wild everywhere, and in every color you could imagine. The poppies you have here look like the California poppy, which they call the Golden Poppy desite their orange color. Thanks for sharing this one!

What a nice shot and story.
Its always the accidental subjets that make the best photos.
Poppies are very nice in bloom. Not so much before that as they are just a green bulb. Great that you managed to catch it at the right time.
