Excellent stop in action. The contradiction of the blue water and the crystalline green wave is impressive. It is interesting how the water crashes over the wooden ramp. The light reflection and the distortion light and waves produce for our eyes are unusual. Best luck for the contest.

think you managed to catch the power of the waves in this,good strong colour,would have liked more detail in the pier,but i dare say you would have got soaked in doing so,can,t have everything i suppose

I love the look of the water which is because you used a fast shutter speed. I think the composition could be improved by having the pier either nearer the top or the bottom. It's a little central for me. I think you have really captured the colour of the water. Well done!

This is a good capture of the rough wave as it washes over the peer. Very nice natural color. The white of the water does look a little over exposed, but it might just be the way the water is rising from the wave. Very interesting capture. Good composition and great depth of field. It is a sort of jetty in the eater. When the sea is calm you can see that it is resting on the shore line. Thanks for the review

This looks like a good one for the contest. I am like you about trying to find a photo for this contest. This one has nice wave action. It looks like some of the wave is a little blown out, but it is almost impossible not to get this effect. Good luck in the contest.

The clarity is very good in this photo as well as the coloring. I am having trouble with understanding what everything is. I would not know it is part of a pier if you had not mentioned it. I suppose a different angle or adding more of the pier would of helped. Thanks, Sherry

Hmmm, I had to sit and sit and ponder. Certainly this photo is very different from your other works. So, I went back and looked to see what emotion this image elicited for me. It confused me. My first reaction was "what is it?", so difficult to identify the main subject. Oh yes, the waves are well exposed the color bytes accurately represented technically it shows you are savvy regarding the manipulation of the camera, but it looks like no effort has been put into the image. It tells me you were walking along a beach saw a wave and shot it. I can't help but wonder what in tarnations is that thing in the middle and what are those red dots in that box to the lower right of the photo, there is no "mystery" just confusion to me. Why is that dock coming in at us from the ocean side and not the shore side? I'm confused. So, if an image doesn't evoke an emotion from the viewer, then it is not art? For me, I had no emotion other than confusion. Because the image did not arouse my artistic side I am holding back half a star and hope you realize my opinion is of course a very subjective judgement on your work but I also hope that by reading it you may find it useful.

Thank you very much for the lovely review. First of all I would like to say that it was actually a lot of efford put into this image. I was staying on that beach almost the whole day, and I took a lot of photos of the crashing waves. I also used time to play around with exposure, colors, contrasts and levels before it was posted. When this photo was taken over a year ago, I was no good at manual settings. The dock end is usually sitting on the beach when the sea is calm, but with these heavy waves coming in it was almost drowned, and you can't see the sand any more. This is quite a long pier, and if you walk it to the end, you could dive straight into deep water. Some people also tied up small boats at the end. Just thought I should explain what you are looking at. I am not sure what the red spots are.
