I think it's something amazing what animals can build for themselves. This nest looks like the tree it was built on was indeed very tall.

Not only is this a great blue heron, it is a great shot as well. I really like how you caught the bird just before it was landing on its nest and with the wings still half spread. The stop action is just perfect. The clear blue sky is of course the perfect background.
This photo is pin sharp showing great details both in the bird and the nest. I also think the use of light is excellent. Not a spot of over exposure.
The composition of this photo is very strong, and I like that you included so much of the nest and the branches around. The bird is sitting in a perfect position within the frame, and you have cropped this photo just the right way. Really an excellent shot.

You are most welcome. I would have given you a higher rating for this one, but the system won't let me

Very nice shot of this guy coming in for a landing. Good contrast and focus. Subject is interesting with good notes. I didn't know that they roosted in trees until this weekend when we saw a rookery not far from where we live! :)

Your pictures are outstanding. The long branch pointing upward shows us ware this Herring is headed. Blue sky adds to the Blue gray feather coloring. Clear and sharp as always. Good work.

This is a wonderful find. Great shot of him going back to the nest. The untouched blue behind him just really makes him stand out and the lighting is great. Very nice work.

How lucky are you. We have blue herons up here, but just individual nests that cannot, at least not by me, be gotten to. What a catch to get time just landing. So clear against the blue sky. Well done.

Absolutely amazing composition. The curve in the tree branches on the right mirror the shape of the wings and that is a very cool thing. I love the clear grecian blue sky against the soft almost peach head. I like the shapes. TY.

A neat picture and great notes. I had no idea Blue Herons nested in tall trees- I thought perhaps they were by water on the ground somewhere. Hard to imagine two birds in that nest. Thanks for sharing this!
