Very interesting carvings. I really like the Queen with her hand on her face. What is the reflection in the background. Thanks for all of the very interesting information and I bet these a really special gift.

Wonderful detail, Annie. I was wondering how you did the background, until I read your notes. The flood filter is subtle and effective. I'm not sure that the added pattern makes the photo better. I can't fairly judge that, but I believe it distracts my eyes a bit from the beautiful detail in the chess pieces. Again, great shot!

Annie, your photography is excellent and so is your post processing. You have great imagination and are a very creative person. I often look at your work and say WOW that is really excellent and flawless. However this piece does not make the think WOW that is excellent and flawless. It rather makes me think this is a great work and very interesting but needs some tweaking. It would be better if the chess board overlay had some perspective in it and finished at the line where the floor appears to meet the wall rather than just being flatly laid over the lot. This just looks flat in my opinion and lacks depth.
I also think the flood filter is overdone in this instance. I think chess board overlay would make the best background on its own on the wall and it would look better in a more solid form on the floor.
Do you know how to use the perspective correction tool? If you do you can also create perspective with it in the opposite way you straighten perspective.

Thank you very much for the lovely review. I see exactly what you mean. I know how to create a perspective, and can clearly see that this would have been better, but I am quite satisified with the flood filter.

They are very beautiful, and a lovely example of bone carving, or ivory I guess in this case. The amazing thing to me, is the look of lifein their eyes, they seem to be looking at the viewer. You have exceptional detail in the little pieces. I am a bit torn about the chessboard overlay, it makes me want to see more of the celtic knot detail. I do find it to be a very well done and moody piece. Donkeyoatey

Thank you very much for the lovely review. I think I could have made the overlay as a perspective, and a bit stronger.
