Entering the Dragons Lair
The storm clouds looked like a dragon22 total reviews

The photo is good. I can see the shape of the dragon you mention in the shadow areas. There is a good range of tone in the colors from black to white.
The triangular black area in the bottom right corner is slightly distracting.
The contest rules say to focus just on clouds and not include any other landscape elements. I think the photo would have looked better if you had changed the P.O.V. slightly to leave that land section out.

Skyangel02,
here is the fist sentence on the contest, "As much as possible, just focus on the clouds... It uses avoid if possible, preferably etc. It Does not say "no". I could not get a better POV, so the little corner is there, it is no overbearing and helps with the ambiance of the title.
Thank you for time in looking and support of the photo it is appreciated.

All you had to do was aim a bit higher or crop the small corner out or even clone it out.
When something says as much as possible to avoid land elements I take it literally and avoid them altogether. We have a huge sky and it is very easy and very possible to totally avoid all land elements.

What a wicked looking sky. It looks really cool in b&w. Lovely clouds. It looks like nightfall. Nice shot!
thanks, levon7

Levon7,
you are welcome.
The black and white transformation from the color shot make sit even more dramatic and ominous looking.
Yes, it does look wicked. I like how the darker areas on the left looks like his body and how it brings you into the image and eventually as you follow that to his head.
Thank you for time in looking and support of the photo it is appreciated.

wow, because it's in black and white, yoiu certainly did get the right look for this! It most certainly does look like a dragon's liar! so glad the dragon isn't there!

khristysdesigns,
Yes but he is there! See him, I like how the darker areas on the left looks like his body and how it brings you into the image and eventually as you follow that to his head, see it accentuated by the lighter clouds behind it.
Thank you for time in looking and support of the photo it is appreciated.

wow that looks like it could be a nice peaceful day or a violent storm, with black and whit it is hard to tell. That is the thing about black and white I love the most, you can convey any emotion with little or no trouble at all. Great shot. Camera techs are good. Thanks for sharing.

Good eye! It's unusual to see negative space as the subject for a shot. Your contrasty lighting and moody rendition give it an ominous feel. Nice job!

Pentax2012,
thank you for your time in stopping and then commenting on the photo is greatly appreciated. Using the negative space to me made it interesting. Can you tell me what you find in need of improvement?

Coming back to this, I still get the sense of the top dark area drawing my eye away from the dragon. Not sure if that could be softened slightly just to keep the competition down. It's a pretty subjective judgement in any case - what's there is nice and you can definitely see the dragon.

Clearly there is a dragon there between the clouds. A powerful image some angry looking clouds in the sky. Great capture of the formation with nice detail and clarity.

Interesting shot of the clouds. I like the black and white touch you have done with it. However, it lacks something to catch the eye and draw you into the shot. Thanks for sharing.

I tend to disagree with you the it lack the draw you in aspect, I think if you viewed it as most would, coming in from the left, that dark body takes you directly into the neck and then the head, the point of interest (highlighted by the lighter clouds behind it). Of course you could come into the shot from the dark area at the top, looks like awing being expanded, taking you into the body, the neck and again the head.
