An attractive painting showing a lighthouse in the background and sand and grass in the foreground. The large item in the corner of the frame I believe is a dead tree branch. It draws my eye to it immediately. The composition is very good and I like your selection of colours. What strikes me about this work though are the textures. Love to see textures in paintings.

Thank you very much for your lovely review. The wood is actually a groyne or breakwater - there are several of these along our coast to try and protect the land from erosion by the sea. Suzanne

Yes, now you mention it I know what these are. This one looks particularly worn so did not recognize it immediately. We have them in Norfolk too!

We have many very old groynes like this up here so I don't expect they really help much!

I have never used water mixed oils and I really like the effect. Nice texture to the piece as I am a fan of brush strokes. Colors are done very well. Overall warm feeling to the piece. Great job.

A lovely seascape Suzanne. The drift wood is very well done, as are the rocks in the fore ground. The pool puts me in mind of exploring tide pools as a child. How do you like the water mixable oils? cainse

Many thanks for your very nice review. I like the water mixable oils because they dry much quicker and you don't have the lingering smell of turps, etc. I only have a small home so that suits me. If I had a separate studio then I'd use regular oils. Suzanne

Amazing textures and colors. Great illumination, and beautiful details. I love the land, seems me that I can take a handful in the hand, like the hard grass of the coast. Well done.

A lovely piece of work. You have a good eye for composition and your use of colour is great. You definitely know your way around a paint palette:)

Very nice painting Suzanne. Great vivid color in the sky and lighthouse and a great tone to the entire piece. Great texture on the canvas. Did you use as knife.

Suzanne,
A wonderful; picture of the Light House on Spurn Point south of my birthplace Whitby. I can hear the wind whistling around the Light House against the blue sky on a summer's day the Tree Stump in the foreground adds shape & textures along with the rough grasses growing on the sands & the rocks & pebbles around the rock pool. Beautiful selection & blending of colours with skilful brushwork in applying the paint to create this beautiful image.

Very very nice. Composition is very well done with the stump drawing the eye up to the lighthouse. This also help to create good depth to the picture. Appealing to the point that I want to be there. Good job.

Thank you very much for your great review. I'm glad you like this. Spurn Point is a lovely place - wild and desolate in the winter but great for picnics in summer! Suzanne
