A face from the past is looking at us, trying to escape from a fading frame. Romantic? Indeed it is, but it has a strange sadness to it. It a face which reminds of a doll; smooth skin like cold porcelain, but the mouth does not smile and there is life in the eyes, but it is muted. The colors are interesting. It seems almost as if the head and the roses suckling the life from the face, because sometimes our memory of people fade faster then things. The head from 100 ago might be is still there as heirloom, while nobody remembers its owner.

Thank you so very much for the lovely review Cleo. I always try to fade the faces a bit, because I want the hat to be the center of interest.

You surely got your goal. The hat draws attention.

You really used pulled those layers together perfectly here. What I like most about this one is the style that has a feel of being the cover of an old 40's woman's magazine to me. The soft colors really do the trick as well as the style of the hat. Great job.

There is a gradation in the use of color from top to bottom, which makes for an interesting fading effect of new/old simultaneously together. All the elements are lovely in themselves and together even more so. Really like it!

Excellent finish to all the work you did to accomplish this romantic look. Beautiful face with a far away look in the eyes. Good texture in the pearls. Reminds me of the roaring 20s.

Comment from Lucien van Oosten
The color harmony within the composition is very well coordinated. I like that aspect good visual flow with the colors.
I am also thinking that the hat needs to be fully in the frame. And also that the neck needs to show the shoulders (fading away) with a little more definition as it fades into the background, the pearls need something to better rest against visually.
I am also thinking I would add some negative space at the top, the rose there for me is a little too close to the edge and that detracts from the flow as well. I might even consider a faded rose showing behind her, or even the swiggle, to help connect that space to the foreground space.
Nice idea, good colors, just needs few adjustments.

I see what you mean Lucien, but since this is part of a series, I wanted to make them the same way. Also in the other two the hat is cut off. Even at the top of the frame. Still, thank you for the suggestions.

This is lovely! The way you have repeated the flower at the bottom is a really nice touch! the focus is soft and lends itself well to this portrait! Very well done my friend and thanks for sharing it!

Reminds me of a time when Romance was a way of life back in the 40's and 50's. Bit then again I had a hat similar to it in the 60's. LOL
Nice presentation. Like her head to one side. The pearls were always worn by a lady. Colors in harmony.

This is very lovely, Annie. I have always been a hat-lover and your composition here displays the femininity of this one perfectly.

This photo is very impressive. I probably would have liked a little bit more color, but that's just my preference. Other than that the details on this photo are incredible. Keep up the good work.
