OK, aside from the fact this is a garbage barrel, it does illustrate some important aspects of photography. Probably why you liked it.
It has good composition. The rule of thirds, not only with the barrel, but with the secondary subject, the dark tree trunk in the upper right. Nice.
The repeating patterns of the cobble stone are interesting and anchor the image firmly.
The main colors in the image are orange and green. These work well together to give depth and interest.
The light falls nicely in the tree canopy to highlight some leaves with shadows darkening others, nice timing.
The barrel itself has nice contrast of reds and browns that draw a person in.
So, there are lots of things to like about this image, even though the subject may not be one of them. :)

Well, you must have been a visionary...
The rusty barrel is well-focused... with "simple" garbage. I like the setting -unexpected- and the background.
Actually, nice work.

I have an idea why you took this picture. I think the scene just caught your photographers eye because there is beauty in the texture and color of rust. There is also the contradiction of man made garbage and the beauty of nature at all times even in dry grass. Even as you don't know why you took the photo, your capture is skilfully. The enhancement is carefully done. The colors and textures are realistic. The background emphasizes the rusty can. The composition please the eyes. I see nothing wrong. Best luck for the contest.

I think you took this image for a couple of reasons. It's the sort of thing I do and then never show anyone because they don't get it! 1. Its the contrast of man made objects and garbage against the natural world 2. Its the colors - wonderful warm oranges, buffs, browns and the green of the trees and weeds. Nice lighting and composition too. Good luck in the contest - Thank you for sharing.

I agree, there is something nice (I wouldn't say pretty) about this. My feeling is it's the symmetry--and the texture and color of the can. Anyway, great shot. Nice forces and composition. Cheers, James.
