The only way to start this is by saying that this is so amazingly creative, and I knew when I first look at it that it was a rendering of some old school actor. His name did not come to mind but when you said it I looked again at the photo and thought how could you have not recognized this legend. Sam Elliott was truly underrated for he was the best that that business had to offer. Now that I've had my say would you elaborate on what was used to create this masterpiece? I can not draw a straight line so art of this kind is totally captivating to me. Thank you so much for putting this on line.

Wow Michael, thank you. I used a photograph to help me draw the image. I look at the photograph and I draw. I use a standard mechanical pencil, and a blending stump [which is made out of paper] and I draw what I see.
