I love this photo. The colours are just so earthy and the storm clouds in the background add so much depth to the photo. It reminds me of an old movie about the deep south.it also makes me feel a bit nostalgic as I used to grow sorghum(which looks very similar)on my farm.

Topaz Impressions - I'm impressed. It has a great feel to it but to my eyes it is beginning to touch on that "grind my teeth" overdone feel.
Meg, I tend to do this too, you work and work and work and work in filters and your eyes begin to get used to seeing the image brighter, more contrastier and you lose your sense of "limit". Here is a suggestion for you when working in filters. When you think you have achieved "the shot" before you "save as"....go and have a cup of coffee, bake a banana bread....but leave the screen. Then when you come back you can then look at it with fresh eyes and say "eeee gads, what was I thinking".
Still, I don't mean to take away from your upload. It is reminiscent of the great master's work and I love it. Where I think it could improve upon is your black clipping and you can play with that aspect in your software (I'm speaking Photomatix and I do believe Impressions can handle black clipping). If it was brought down just a touch it would look more natural, however, you may not have been gunning for that , it is artistic license and I bow to yours. The vignette adds to this image but again, for me it could be brought down so that the vignette seduces our eyes into the shot and not screams out at us....
Love it all in all and that vertical strong format....a big thumbs up.

Thank you. This filter is at 60% and it is still a little heavy but you know I really like it. There is something about this that really says Fall to me because our days in fall can look just like this with darkness and periods of sun throughout the day. It can be dark like this one minute and bright and sunny the next. But I do appreciate your comments. You are right... it reminds me of the old Masters.

Probably some hunter hoping to draw in the pheasants. A very nice image though with beautiful colors and excellent composition. Best of luck in the contest.
