I like the pastel colours you used for this lovely painting and you've captured the feathery nature of the leaves and Lupins very well. I always have difficulty with the uploads of pastel paintings as the colours never seem to show correctly. I think you did a good job with the bird - I know how frustrating it can be when you can see in your mind just how you want a thing to look but your fingers don't seem to get the same message! I agree it's difficult to blend pastels on a very rough surface so you did well. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

Nice job with the pastels. I had to laugh at your comment, "I am done, it is what it is!" Have been there many times, at some point, for piece of mind, it needs to be done.
I think you did a fine job with the bird, and I do like the overall colors you used.

this is a piece still needing a few touch ups, i love the purples,i think on thr horizon you should put a bit of pink. the branches should be all pointing upwards , their is a few seeming out of place i like the rework of the bird,i would work a bit on the birds right leg,our left, by putting the starting of his leg a bit more covered up by the shadow underneath should do it, great work so far.

Very beautiful contest entry. There are varying shades of purple and green harmonized well in the artwork. The framing and placement of the bird with his colorful chest is perfect. The little farm in the distance anchors the subject. Good luck in the contest.

I like the picture, even the little group of people on the sea shore, however though I understand why, the repetition of the colour of the lupines, I think I would have preferred a different sky- not sure I would sit on the shoreline with what looks like a storm brewing over ahead! But that is a small matter.

What a nice painting of the lupines and the bird in this contest entry. I like the purple in color the sky also as it compliments the purple shaded flowers. Having them one color makes your lovely bird stand out even more.
