Thank you for the great back story of this wonderful photo. He is beautiful and so well detailed in your photo. Just amazing clarity and color. That is a huge wood pecker. I wouldn't want to mess with him. You have captured a wonderful photo here. Thank you for sharing!

Initial impact : WOW! This is fantastic ! Very interesting to view as I have never seen this type of woodpecker before, well focused , the image is clear, shows good detail throughout, nice eye contact, colors are natural, I love the red cap ! Well exposed, nice placement in frame. This was a pleasure to view, thank you!

This is a great shot! You capture all the details in the feathers, and especially the eye. The blurred background really makes it pop.

You are such a lucky lady capturing this fellow! I find woodpecker to be difficult to capture. The focus on this guy offers up ultra fabulous detail - counting feathers... :-)) Great natural color as well. I would have given his head a bit more light but... fabulous as is. What a cutie. Thanks for sharing!!! I am sooooo jealous!

This is a striking looking bird. I love his top red head and the red on his lower face. Nice orange eyes. I enjoyed reading your description of that bird and I learned something new, so thank you. I really enjoyed this photo. Thanks for sharing.

Wow. What a great shot of this Pileated. I have never seen on up this close. I have seen them in the woods taking out large chunks of bark as they look for insects. Great color and details. Good placement in the frame Grace. You done good on this one girl ~ Steve

Quite a nice bird shot posted here. Your angled and overhead classical composition provides us with an enjoyable look at your wood pecker. Sharpness and exposure are fine. Nicely done!
