Wow, what an artistic presentation of these candles.
The scene is bewitching and Oh so perfect for Halloween.
I love the props, the bleeding wax onto the skull, and the clarity and perfect detail in all of them. If there were distractions you surely can't see a tiny remnant of them. Excellent post editing. This is so well done and very unique.
The candles look spectacular with the ghoulish theme.
Best of luck in the competition.

Oh, this is a wonderful entry into this contest. I love the golden glow from the candle light and the raven and books me think of the writing desk of Edgar Alan Poe. It has just the right degree of mystery and creepiness; just like a Poe story.

Shades of Edgar Allen Poe. Although this is anything but light reading, it is an interesting composition. I like that it is as nior as it is intended to be. Best of luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing.

"And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the Pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
and the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted--nevermore!" E.A Poe
I see a very creative visual representation of the last stanza of the epic by Poe.
The framing of this composition packs a visual punch - high impact.
Very narrow color and tonal range. For this piece the tonal range is what sets the mood and is well supported by the background.
Your use of the absolute black background makes a statement all by itself - perfect blackness. The skulls presence dominates the scene and is a very good reflector of the candle light.
The lighting is fabulous. Not over done and not understated but a blend of soft diffuse light that highlights the main elements and draws attention to them.
I wonder if a reflector placed at the appropriate angle behind and left might "throws his shadow on the floor", just a thought - nevermore.
An imaginative, creative, poignant and just plain good contest entry ... B-)) Bob

This has to be in the bedroom of a huge dark castle somewhere! This is awesome with a very eerie feel , it's very well photographed with good focus, very clear, well controlled lighting . I love the candles and how they are placed in this scene. The skull and the raven placed on top of the well arranged books and the placement of the two candles is perfect. Nice detail in all of the pieces . Your title is so very clever, I love it! Best to you in the contest!
