Hi Steve, Love the way you entered the shot. You can't help but be drawn in. The thermophiles add a nice texture to the water surface. Love the layered look they present to the eye. The rising steam and background add to the image as well, giving a sense of mystery to what is beyond. A very interesting shot that leaves the viewer intrigued! It got me! LOL :o) Nancy

I so love images like this! If I had the money I would definitely visit Yellowstone, The grand Canyon and Yosemite. Since I can't get there myself I relish images like this. I can imagine the joy you feel when your at Yellowstone. I have the same joy when I visit the parks in my area. Thank you for sharing the magic of Yellowstone Steve,so I get a chance to enjoy the awesome park too! Just wanted you to know why images like this mean so much to me when presented like this! :o)

Nancy I have hundreds of images from Yellowstone taken over the years. Many are much better than this one. I was lazy and in a rush to post for the contest. One of these days I will send you a thumb drive with a lot of what I consider represents the many facets of the wonders of Yellowstone. It won't be like being there in person but I think you will get a good feel for the place.

Steve that is so sweet of you! If you find you don't have the time I don't mind viewing the images right here at FAR! As far as your thinking you were lazy in posting "Yellowstone Hot Pool Colors" I beg to differ! If posting an image like this is being lazy... I'll take lazy every day of the week! I think the image is awesome! I wouldn't have given it a six if I didn't believe it deserved it! I'd like to think in my laziest mood I posted images like this! Steve, you just don't realize how special the images you take are. By the look of things I don't think I'm the only one who feels that way! :o) Nancy

I like this because of the colors and the thick foggy mist in back, I like the way the trees and land are showing through the mist , behind the warm earthy brown and orange tones on the ground surrounding the hot pools. This is well photographed with good focus, the image is clear, nice show of the textures here. Well managed exposure, the colors and tones appear natural.well composed and presented!

Love the contrast of the colors and texture with the strong mist.
Really a beautiful perspective and climate induced image.
A unique and artistic entry for the contest. Best wishes FS!

Thanks VO. I doubt that this will even make a blip but I wanted to enter something. As Yellowstone is my favorite place I just had to show her off a little. Thanks again VO ~ FS

Different theme in this and although the misty effect hides a certain amount of the thermal pools it still shows enough of the surrounding landscape that goes into this place, good visual image...Brian

Palpable steaming hot mist...
The ore colored foreground textures lends a fantabulous contrast.
Subtly lit.
Nicely framed.
Sharply focused.
I like the ghostly distant trunks.
Diminishing perspective gives a better depth....
Thanks for sharing...
