This is really beautiful. The pin sharp focus allows the viewer to see all of the lovely detail in the pedals and the center of the flower. The light on the flower is perfect and the black background is the perfect canvas to present the flower on. Nice work!

Great image image and the process for a stop e bought flower. I especially like the black background which makes the red pop out at you. The lighting, composition and exposure were right on. Great work.

Absolutely perfect photograph of this Gerbera bloom, Pat.
The details are great, I like the slightly ruffled petals and great angle.
Great colors with the soft light on the bloom.

HI Pat ... Always a pleasure to view one of your excellent post. Great choice of backgrounds, it contrast nicely with the intense red of the Gerbera. Artistic centering of the subject combined with technical excellence yields a take I wouldn't mind hanging on the wall to look at when I need to be reminded there is life after winter.
Speaking of the former here are some ideas to get you through: Playing with light is a lot of fun, say for instance using a D cell flashlight - maybe adding filters. Here's some delicious fun try slicing fruit lets say an Orange into very thin slices and arrange them on clear glass plate in a mosaic pattern and light from beneath - patterns are incredible. You can use different fruits and veggies so long as light can pass through it. At the end of the shoot you can eat the props. Finally, try photographing water droplets. Loads of fun because there is an almost unlimited number of ways to do this. Backgrounds reflected off the catch basin surface adds an interesting effect.

So I am studying this for how you got the effect of black all around the flower yet the middle is lighted I suppose with a light box. not sure what that is but truly you can photograph a enclyclopedia and make it great!

Thank you so much! I appreciate your awesome review! A light box is a folding box , mine came with several different backgrounds. It also came with three lights that can be placed in dear to get the light effect that you want.

Just stunning against that dark background. The flower is beautiful and the lighting was perfect. This should be on a poster! I love the yellow center on it. These are such cheerful flowers. Nice to give yourself some color in the winter.
