A wonderful chilly and moody image of a winter's day overlooking the Knik River. The colours throughout this capture are amazing with turquoise blue and yellow/orange glow from the from the sun setting. The movement of the clouds are an added beauty. Wonderful composition and layers using the rule of thirds. Thanks for sharing Pat!

Pat ... You captured the essence of the cold, when I look at this I shiver. Because it has a very familiar ring as I have seen this place in Lapland Sweden.
Exquisite blue on blue natural color rendition. The framing is excellent - using the land in silhouette as a horizon divider, very clever. This separation of sky and ice gives the viewers eye a plane of reference and makes it easy to navigate. Camera tech is flawless, lots of detail and deep DOF.
This piece captures the imagination and at the same time instills feelings of reverence for the very fact of existence ... Bob P B-))

Love the curvature of the clouds and the beautiful hues in the sky. Those clouds draw you right into the beautiful scene. Nice landscape. Good image and balance. Might have been better if more waves on the beach, if possible, a few seconds later. Timing is important.

Thanks , this is a mostly frozen river, it is not a beach with waves.

I love the sky in the this shot Pat! The clouds hold so much tension and potential. The colours are dramatic and well placed, great composition. What time of day was this taken? I find the climate and life up there so interesting and of course beautiful...have you always lived there?

The point of taking the capture is perfect you captured a 2 3rds view, the horizon line is thin but sufficient to break the composition to grasp the sky in the watery ice. The sky alone is spectacular. One of the best here.
