This is a very detailed painting of a puffer fish. At first I thought it was a photo. The colors compliment each other. I like how his face fills the painting. At first glance I thought it was an alien creature. Vey nice.

Jesuel,

I think you did a fine job with this close up. This would be very challenging as their faces are very unusual. However, so think you got the face drawn out really good.
The colours are relatively close to what they really look like. Eyes and mouth are very clear. His spikes are really good but I think the left looks too perfect in line compared to the right.
All in all it's a great piece of art. Good job

Linda,
Thank you for your time in looking and then writing your critique on my painting. Sometimes that is the way they look uneven, just like most peoples faces which are not symmetrical.
have a good rest of your day,
cheers.

Yeah I thought maybe that?s how they are for real. I think it?s really cool and a great job on it. Must have taken you some time to do this too.

I'm not at all shy and in addition, in contrast to most other reviewers on this site I'm honest; you did a lot of nice and excellent work in the past, but this last work is awful!

Supergold,
help me out here, awful how, or why? Honesty should have a better
vocabulary then just awful.
Like how is it awful, what makes it awful?
Thank you for your comment, but it really is not helpful in how I could understand how I could improve the painting, or my style of painting.
Have good day.
Cheers,
Lucien

,as I already indicated, you posted already a lot of nice work on this site; I just don't like the subject and in addition the pic is not sharp enough;
-
thank you being clearer on your rating, the post is not sharp enough, and you do not like the subject of the painting.
cheers,
Lucien

At first sight, I thought it resembled more of a part of a machinery. I have not seen a puffer fish. But I find the painting interesting. I like the soft colours you have chosen to use. Thanks for sharing!

This is actually a little frightening!! Once I found the eyes the rest started to really take shape. An intimidating expression on his face. You created mice depth and the shadows really add realism. Very well done!! Thanks for sharing

Comment from FBI GUY
The idea of drawing a puffer fish would have never can to my mind but that is why I am not an artist. As I try to back this scene off into its normal size to see the whole picture, all I see if the dangerous spikers and his snarky attitude. The details and the shade and shadows you have used to give him a great DOF is cool. Fun scene and good luck in the contest.

FBI Guy,
Thank you for your time in looking and then writing your critique on my painting. Snarky, a good word; like he is saying, I don't care, just try and touch me.
Have a good rest of your day,
cheers.

Fine especially for your second. Really looks like a fine piece of unique machinery also. The dark and medium blues at the bottom are rather nice too. What medium did you do this work in?

Comment from Montana Shooter
You have created this close up of the puffer fish well. I like the blends of browns and grays. The spines are well depicted.
I do feel myself wanting to step back to bring more of the fish into view.
Nicely done.

I think that your close up is amazing. Your painting looks surreal. I can still see that this is a Puffer Fish, but it looks like laughing man who is wearing a mask. The shades of blue color below amplify the Puffer Fish. The shades of gray emphasize the alien appearance of the Puffer Fish. The painting is excellent composed. The tight framing is adequate. The composition is balanced.

Cleo,
thank you, for the six stars, I am very pleased you liked this painting well enough to award it six stars.
my desire to make it a close-up, with my wanting to show details on the spikes, especially over the mouth, required it to be framed tightly.
Have a great day.
Cheers,
Lucien

You're very welcome, Lucien! :o)
