This looks like it could be a scene from* Lord of the Rings*! Perfect title for this impressive capture of the fiery glow from the setting sun contrasting beautifully with the frozen waters of the lake and the broken slabs of ice piled on shore.I like how you were able to capture a few of the dying rays reaching out to color some of the ice. A very dramatic and beautiful scene!

Just beautiful Pat! Surreal with almost fantasy feelings and tone that shows this frozen scene in a bone chilling way! The gradient blues of the water and ice are fantastic! Beautiful composition and framing. Thanks for sharing!

I like how the sun is perfectly centered in the middle with the broken ice in the foreground. It actually looks as if fire and ice are in the same place. The fact that the ice doesn't reflect the red sun enables the orange color to shine in one part of the image. Good Job!

This shot is simply other worldly, Pat.

Stark contrast sets a mood of trepidation and caution. The color is awesome. I see conflicting tones of red and blue vying for the viewers attention.

The camera settings are dialed in just right. Excellent detail from an extensive DOF.

You included just enough of the breakup ice to balance the shot.

The shot works for me, I look at the ice and I feel cold. Then when I look at the sunset I feel warm.

Well you have shown me something I could never imagine, thanks ... Bob

Amazing capture of the broken ice. The texture is brought to the fore and it creates a terrific sense of dimensions. The firey sky is almost like a volcanic glow. There is a dramatic feel with this and beautiful in all aspects.

A good looking nature image posted here! Your fine and classical composition offers us an enjoyable view of your beautiful dusk location. Textures, colours and tones are good. Sharpness and exposure are good. Nicely done!

This is an amazing picture. The colours are extremely atmospheric and you can even see the details of the ice blocks at the front - they act as great foreground interest.
