Wow! That was my first thought! This is an awesome entry for this contest! I like the way you have captured the two ants on the fruit that looks like peaches, each ant is well captured with spot on focus, this image is sharp and clear, exposure is correct, colors and tones appear natural. Well defined detail on both ants, they give scale as to the size of the fruits, obviously not a peach.
Very well composed and presented!
Very best wishes to you in this contest!

The growths are something called oak galls. An abnormal plant growths found on foliage and twigs that are produced by small oak gall wasps. Why the ants love them so much, I don't know. You have anyway pictured both the ants and the galls really well.

The photo is sharp, and it is such clear and well defined details both in the galls and the ants. The exposure is very good, and the colors look nice and natural.

I also like a lot the way you have cropped the photo and the diagonal placement of the foreground ant within the frame. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo Nancy, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Hi Nancy, these guys look like they are in heaven and don't know it. Very nice captures on these spherical sugar bombs, they look like peaches to me, miniatures maybe. The best of luck in the contest. Everyone who sees the Picture along with your wonderful poem, loves it and agrees that it goes nice together. Ray.

Hi Ray, These do look like peaches don't they! The only thing is they're growing on an oak tree. LOL Annie just told me these are oak galls. I had the suspicion that that's that's they were but wasn't certain. I looked them up after Annie passed on the knowledge and she was right.
I'm thrilled to hear that people you've shown the "Siren" poem to have enjoyed it. Thanks for letting me know! I think your painting and my poem go well together too! Thanks for the great review on my Oak Ants! :o) Nancy
