Hi Charlotte.. For me; Summer is that hot acrid smell wafting up from the preservative in the railroad ties we walked over on the "short cut to the beach."

Summer is hot humid nights when sleep is hard to come by.

Summer is being lulled to sleep by a lullaby sung by a chorus of Loons.

Summer is a cold beer after mowing the lawn.

Summer is filled with 'Old Friends' and new adventures.

Summer is our kids and their kids, county fairs, ice cream cones and a dip in the lake.

Summer is hayfields of bovine fodder - grown, mowed, ranked and bailed.

Summer is too short... Bob

P>S. - This take has excellent color reproduction, camera angle, contrast and detail.

    Hi Bob,
Thank you so much for that wonderful extra star, but also for that excellent list of what summer means to you!
It was the Loons chorus that peaked my interest the most, I?ve never seen one and only know their song from that very old, but very lovely film On Golden Pond. It?s such a beautiful and haunting call, what a wonderful sound to fall asleep to! When I lived in France it was the cicada chorus that lulled me to sleep, it?s my most favourite of sounds - unfortunately it?s not hot enough for them here in the Uk.
    Thanks again!

A good looking image posted here! Your fine and classical composition grants us an enjoyable view of your lovely location. Like those low slopping slopes.

yes summer is going sone and won,t be long for winter, have to say this is quite an elegant shot yet simple in its conveyance of a country scene, would nornamally say there is to much foreground in this but somehow it works, good one...Brian

This is such a lovely landscape photo! Summer used to be my favorite season until I moved to Alabama. Oh my gosh. I call it Hell's Sauna. It's awful heat! But.. I absolutely love all the flowers and green green green. I moved here from the desert. So I still really enjoy the green. And also every chance to go to the beach which is a five hour drive. But it's the highlight of my summers now. Looking forward to Autumn. But it doesn't last long enough!
I love this pic!

    Hi Jewell,
Thank you SO much for your your review and high rating! And for telling me about your summers, I didn?t realise it got so hot in Alabama, and with the temperatures and the greenery it sounds like a humid heat, which yes is so much worse! But five hours to the beach, OMG that?s a long way!! I?m only 20 minutes away (tee hee), but I have to admit I rarely go.
    Thanks again,
    Charlotte

    Where do you live?

In the south-east of England since May, but before that I was in Northumberland, the northern most part of England (just below Scotland), where you barely knew it even was summer!!!! Lol
