What a fabulous image. Wish I had six stars. You created a wild and unforgiving ocean - just spectacular. The cliffs are full of texture and after reading your notes one has quite the appreciation for the work these rescue crews must do. Fascinating how " mother nature " has changed the landscape and affected the lives of the people. Here in Canada, the federal government in its wisdom has done away with most lighthouses..cost saving measure . A few are still around as tourist attractions but as most were in sparsely populated areas the people in those hamlets do not have the $$ to maintain them - an entire way of life is lost--what else is new..sorry for sounding bitter here. The sky you painted is glorious in its hues of colour. This is truly an exceptional painting... masterful technique !!

Thank you so much for your really lovely review. I'm very pleased you like this. Where I live on the East Coast of Yorkshire in a small town, we have a lighthouse which was built in the middle of the town as the original one was lost to the sea along with the original village! Our lighthouse no longer works as a lighthouse but is kept in good order and is open to the public from Easter to the end of October for you to climb. It also houses a museum now showing fossils etc which have been collected on our beach and also has a grotto dedicated to the old film actress Kaye Kendall, who originated from here. Suzanne

Sounds to me a very sensible and attractive way to keep some history. I applaud the town fathers and that community. julika

great seascape ,life boats are so important and you have rendered that summation to a tee in this beautiful moving painting,,water and sky meet in an invisible division supported by the rocky shores and the brave little rescue boat chuggs along on her merry way home,,,super completion and presentation,,thanks for sharing.

Everything looks okay, the sky looks very good. It's the boat that looks somewhat indistinct. i love the pink you added to this.

Well, it looks like you nailed this one as well. Beautiful seascape with the water crashing on the rocks, super penetrating colors you high light the sun a great level. How about our little boat trying to navigate those rough waters, well done, well done indeed.

This is an excellent piece of artwork here!
I love oils on canvas, and I love this painting.
You've captured the fury of a storm in all its rough and tumbled beauty.
But more importantly, you've told a story with your work.
That element adds to much in any visual medium.
Sensational talent resulting in an amazing work.
