The colors are nice and delicate, just perfect to show off the subject. The attention to detail looks great and crisp with astonish impact.

This is an interesting photograph with good detail. Focus is perhaps a little too soft. You have captured every important element and the composition is very good indeed. I'm not too sure about the use of colour and black and white here

Thank you for your generous review. Both the soft focus and the saturation to black and white are do to the extreme difficult glaring light. I usually wouldn't try to take photos with light as this but The locus is very uncooperative and won't fly on my timetable. I softened the focus and saturated to overcome the flair and the business of the background. It was the best I could do.

wow! This is an amazing picture Cleo! First of all, I love the both colors and b&w composition. It's a unique capture here! Very good lighting adjustment and very good focus! It's fascinating to see these guys hanging this way, together. It's almost an abstract photography. Yes, very well done Cleo!

Thank you for sharing

Its a nice photograph. I like how the light is captured. Balanced tones show the subject out much better under the moderate effects.

Focus is well managed. Presentation as they say all is centered in great condition. Overall color and contrast is indeed technically excellent.

This is a nice fun picture with lots of colors and things to look at. The framing is good and the subject matter is good. Well done.

I like the background, it really makes these guys stand out. I hadn't realized that they were so pretty but, I know, destructive. Something about the light in this picture makes it more than just grasshoppers on a branch, it almost seems surreal. By the way you have the more deadly snake, the fer-de-lance is more deadly than a cobra, been trying to get a picture for years. Donkeyoatey

Thank you so much for your great review.
It not only looks surreal. It was surreal. You probably know the palapa roofs of Juano [palm leaves]. They are required in our community. These guys started to nibble on the roofs after the shopped the plants down. But we were lucky. The wind from the ocean started blowing and the left for the jungle so most of the roofs survived.
Yes we have the Fer-de-lance [aka Two Step - two steps after the striks tell death] but the only I have seen in the 14 years we live here was in captivity in Xcaret. We don't see poisenous snakes verry often. I have seen [and photographed] the Coralino [Corall Snake] from time to time and once a Rattelsnake but we have supposedly eight poisenous snakes here. [The mention of the Cobra was a joke between Surmed and me]

I have only gotten a picture of the lance once, and he was dead! What kind of palms do you use for thatching, Bay leaf or cahoon? Glad you still have roofs! Donkeyoatey
reply by the author on 17-Apr-2009
Nicer. Cohoon goes only farther south of us. I'm not sure what you mean with bay leaf. Common names are often misleading. The only bay leaf I know of is a kind of Laurel. We use Fan Palms.
reply by donkeyoatey on 17-Apr-2009
I spent a day learning to thatch, and it is hard! The bay leaf sort of looks like a fan..maybe that was it. Donkeyoatey

Probably the common names used here are often very different even from village to village. I'll probably will post some photos in time.

This is an amazing mixed media photo. The shift from b&w to color is astounding. With the emphasis on light, the colors just burst. Very interesting notes to accompany. Very well enjoyed! Best of luck at the polls!!
