wow now that's a close up! I would have had a higher f-stop to get all the beak in focus but still a great shot. Your deatils are amazing and the color goes with that :)

Thank you so very much! I have learned a lot about using the f stops since I took this one. I know I can't wait to start shooting birds again. I shoot them in the fall through spring. Summer is too hot!

oh suck it up! lol :) I shoot for a bit during such hot and humid and bug infested days but only for my dragonflys. I love them. :)

Nicely framed and excellent focused. Like the sunflower seed she is about to crack. From the white spots in the beck looks like this is not her first one, thanks for sharing, John

Just love this close-up.
It is so clear and sharp
This photograph is so well shot, I can actually count the individual feathers around her beak and eye.
The lighting is great
Nice capture, to get her while she's grabbing a bite to eat.
Wonderful photograph
Thanks for sharing

What a fantastic shot! I have always thought the female was beautiful with her muted colors. You have certainly brought her beauty to the foreground for all to see, and have shown her in a wonderful light! It is an impressive close up for sure! Enjoyed it alot!

This is a great photo and shows the Cardinal eating a seed which is great. I do have a problem with this site in general. I have come to realize that I can not tell a story because everyone wants a tight crop like you did on this photo. I do find that a disappointment. The tight crop works extremely well on this photo, but it doesn't always work. I do love this one, especially that you have the seed in her mouth. You have captured such detail, it is great.

Thank you so very much! The tight crop works well on a lot of things but not necessaraly for everything. I like showing the detail because most people can't get this close so it makes it special for me!

I have no problem with people doing a tight crop to show something specific, which you were in the photo. I do have a problem with the idea that everything has to be tightly cropped so that nothing else, "stuff" is in the photo. I have had even tightly cropped photos have comments that they should be cropped more. They want NOTHING but the main subject. I have found that after a while this is getting boring. The photos are starting to all look the same because everyone thinks they have to shoot to this cropped standard. I have gotten this on my top rated 5+ photos, so it isn't just on lower rated photos. Here you were showing something specific and that is fine, but I don't think every photo has to be cropped so tightly that no perspective is shown.

A lot of times it is personal preference. I get the photograph to suite myself and hope everyone see's it the way I did. That is the only way to do it because you will never please everyone. It is just like cooking. Fix it the way you like it! You are your own judge and if you are like me you are over critical of your own work. We are all trying to learn, and sometimes I get a review I don't like and sometimes it even makes me mad. I try to use the advise that makes sence and ignore the things that do not. After using the good advise I feel I can only get better and that is why I love this site. I do understand where you are coming from.

Thanks, sometimes I need to vent. We are having terrible weather, the streets are flooding and there is no end in sight for the rain. I had hoped to go out and shoot today, so my mood is really down. I wanted so much to show a real cat show, but it isn't going to happen. That is not what people want. I am just disappointed in that, I guess.

Smile! God loves you, be thankful you are getting the rain. Tomorrow will be a better day!
