The hawks are hard to see...it looks like a frog to me. the cactus is very good. the point is good technique. the sky is good too. just the hawks need work.

doris1022,
Like in nature I was trying to show how they are camouflaged and yet still see them if you look. The image comes together better if you look at it 4 to 6 feet away. In the photo I used as reference they are also hard to see.
I think that based on the review I accomplished what I set out to, in real life (seeing the artwork hanging) they are a little easier to see, but you still have to look.
Thank you for your time and writing this good informative review, your continued support of me and my artwork is appreciated.
Have great week.... Cheers!!

When I first looked at this image I was unsure what was what. Returning to the laptop after making a drink it all became clear - whether it was the coffee, the distance from the screen or both but the image suddenly formed and I could see their little heads poking out between the cacti. Always a joy to see your work and understand how the simple is really quite complex.

Sessybon,
yes, to get the full effect, it better to stand 4 to 6 feet away so that the eye brings all the dots together. After all it is a technique that comes out of the impressionistic period, where light, forms and colors was the way to get the viewer/audience to help create the mode, and be involved with the artwork.
Thank you for your support of me and my artwork, it is appreciated, I hope you will do so in the future on my postings. Have great day... Cheers!!!

Very nice job. I love the effect of the pointillist style. Great use of blues and greens to achieve the green of the cactus. Thank you for sharing.

I do like this form of art and probably have commented on some work already. The nest looks as though it has been built in between cactus plants. The stripes give me that impression. Like the blue in the sky and also the green tones you have used. The birds look rather insignificant though and I do believe this is because of the dots. Since they are small and do not cover a great area, the dots makes them look too busy with their form being lost. I personally feel the bird's heads would look more effect if they were painted in a more traditional way.

susanlen,
the pointillism technique, deals with the scene in a more impressionistic way. Where colors and light and then the viewer helps put the image together usually from 4 to 6 feet away. So the reason for the rating is that the baby hawks needed to be more??? ( what? Can you explain it a little more for me??)
I do appreciate your support of me an my artwork, it is appreciated as always. Sorry you do not like the end results.
Thank you and have great week... Cheers!!!

mairiarran,
I think that you should try the technique on your leper colony photo, the colors & textures there are great and would be a challenge and yet fun to re-create in a pointillist image.(I would try if you want?)
I do appreciate your support of me an my artwork, it is appreciated as always.
Thank you and have great week... Cheers!!!

The extra half's for the effort you must have put into this work. It's amazing and is probably the first use of the technique I've seen aside from those artist you have mentioned. Well done and keep it up! R
