I can see his intent! Great focus! The blue of the water is a great contrast to his mane and the grasses! The only suggest I have is to crop a little more. The impact of his glare would be a little more intense if there wasn't as much around him. Just my opinion, though. Great shot - and I'm glad you didn't wait around!

A once in a lifetime shot. This is fantastic. Absolutely love it. Only thing I might have done is just cropped it slightly tighter to bring the lion just a tiny bit closer by losing maybe 10% more foreground/water! Awesome though

thanks so much for your comments and high rating; I cropped already a lot; I didn't want to decrease the definition and wanted to leave enough space in front before joining me

What a great nature shot on this king of the jungle. Not a scene we see often as he is out in the water. Like the very good focus on the face, framed and with a low sun angle. Job well done.

It must be amazing to be able to capture a lion in it's natural habitat! Most of us only see this on TV or the zoo! The colors of the lion and the water are beautiful and compliment each other well.Framing is good and I like the contrast on the head of the lion, it makes things more interesting! Good job taking the shot and living to post it here! :D

You did the right thing, by not waiting. The lion is really checking you out. A cool capture of the lion doing something that he doesn't do well. Love the rich blue stripe that crosses in his wake and shadow. Good techs. Thanks for sharing and good luck in contest.
