I live in KY also. I have a bird feeder right outside my window and try to get birds in flight. We have many cardinals eating all the bird seed in the morning and evening. I think using the flash really highlighted the bird against the darkness. That's what makes this photo so special.

This is a really neat shot to get! The flash adds a lot to the scene with brightening the colors and creates a neat atmosphere as the cardinal begins to lift off.
