The year is 1891-92, the place is Central Park, New York City. The occasion is the local Shakespeare society's plan to introduce all the birds mentioned in their favorite authors writings. Too with, 100 European Starlings among other non indigenous species were released. The rest is as they say, Pat; history.

This specimen has perhaps the greatest range of colors as I have seen on these birds - quiet remarkable.

The capture is of high color resolution through out and superb fine detail - the iris is visible.

Contrast is short scale. Lighting seems low key which complements the high points of the bird.

Excellent capture ... Bob

Wow, this is an extremely well shot photo. I'd be amazed also seeing its true colors. Great color, contrast and detail. The blurred background makes this bird pop out.

Starling - most beautiful when the light hits them just right, Very Well done here, Pat !
Magnificent angle of view and exceptional background highlighting the subject! This pose is just perfect and regal looking. Your background is supremely artistic and well blended, too . Eye and yellow bill are clearly shown along with the feather detail on the head and face. Wing feather detail is beautifully exhibited with the tan lines on the feathers edges .Beautifully crafted artwork!!

Thank you so very much Ray, the first time I actually got a hood look at these birds, I was blown away by the actual colors! I am honored by your six star rating!

Is he really dark like this with these colorfully decorated wings and features? It probably protects him to be dark and the colors are needed when he wants to be scene possibly for mating. I'm guessing but what a unique and special photograph.
