Pat, this is absolutely gorgeous photography of the natural wonders of Alaska.
The sun and its glow in the sky and over the mountains are like a picture from another planet.
Great composition with the interesting ice in the foreground.

A very beautiful & dramatic sunset scene in Portage, The sun glowing through the clouds in the valley between the mountains, the golden colours in the sky then reflected onto the patches of open water & the slabs of broken ice in the foreground are an added bonus. Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Very nice shot, but it is not the red in the sky that I like the most in this shot, it is the ice breaking in the FG. This gives it a nice base to work from, then the eye leads through the shot. It's almost like a Yin Yang with a photo of 2 halves. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice shot, but it is not the red in the sky that I like the most in this shot, it is the ice breaking in the FG. This gives it a nice base to work from, then the eye leads through the shot. It's almost like a Yin Yang with a photo of 2 halves. Thanks for sharing.

On first look I thought it was a volcano, with that fire red sun!
A beautiful capture, with excellent detail, it's sharp from the chunks of ice in the foreground, right back to the mountains in the distance.
I like your composition, with the sun in the V of the mountains shining through and highlighting the ice. Another wonderful photo.
