You have captured this drake in flight so well, and the stop action is perfect. I especially like the softened winter forest as a background, and the bird is standing out from it in an excellent way. This photo has an almost painterly look I like very much.
The photo is sharp showing clear and well defined details in the feathers of the bird, and the exposure is spot on.
The square format you have cropped the photo into works well, and the bird has got such a fine placement off to the right. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo Pat, and with an excellent DOF.

Thank you so much my friend! It was super cold with ice fog in the air, I could feel it on my face ! It has since warmed up and I went Back a few days ago and it was super foggy !

A very nice capture of this colorful drake mallard on the wing against the neutral background of frost encrusted branches. I love the positioning of his wings and his off center placement giving him room to fly. The frost helps soften the branches behind him and gives your photo a 3D effect!
