Damn, I would never thought of getting that close to snakes. Your too daring? oh i would have left that house if i had found just one snake around it LOL! your very daring, But this snake is CUTE lol. Love the angle and your composition with good depth of field. just crop a little from right hand side. All the best for the contest.

Thanks so much. I try the cropping later but I think I can't change anything now since it is a contest entry.
This snake is really harmless. I fair mosquitoes more. I got Dengue fever from mosquitoes. These snakes eat mosquitoes.

No, You can crop it, it wouldn't call mixmedia at all :) So go for it.

I really don't know how I change a posted picture especially a contest entry. If I delete it, it would be out of the contest.

You don't need to delete it, Just go to your portfolio, and then see this photograph, and then click on EDIT, after edit, click on " Change it " you will see that option on top of the page, just crop it and upload it again :) so simple.

However, the focus is not clear and the background is distracting. I think he would show up better with a plain background. He certainly is a conversation starter.

Fair presentation. Good color harmony. Fair technique. Good lighting. Good depth of field. Good center of interest. Focus and detail are fair. Good story telling ability. This is a beautiful snake. However, the focus is not clear and the background is distracting. I think he would show up better with a plain background. He certainly is a conversation starter.

Could you please clarify why you write the focus is not clear. I can't find the mistake looking at the photo. The focus is on the snake. I just don't know what is wrong.
There is also a problem with changing the background. That's not a pet snake. This photo is token in open nature. There is always something in the background. Of curse it could be changed with a program but the contest rules prohibited this.

Unless it is my computer, the snake does not look clear, especially the head. I understand that this is a wild snake, but some angles, even in nature are better than others. This is just my opinion. I try and be very aware of the total picture, not just the animal I am trying to capture on film.

Thank you a lot. I taught the head is clear. I can count the scales. But I admit I have bad eyes. That is why I use digital. Can't see enough for film.
You seam to have a lot of knowledge and experience in the wild. How you do different angles. Its a matter of seconds and the snake or another animal is gone. I don't know if and when I see it again. That is why I never be without the camera.

Usually you try and capture the eye of your subject. Focus on the eye(s). I love shooting pics of reptiles and have four of my own. I was excited to see your snake, because not many people share my passion on this site. Try and put yourself at the same level or slightly below to avoid any glare on their head. See your subject eye to eye. It does go fast and sometimes you get the right shot and sometimes not. Always look at the whole picture. Sometimes I have to let a shot go because I know it isn't set up right. It's great when it all comes together. Also, by knowing a little about your subject, you can predict where it will move to and how quickly. Small portable tripods are nice to secure that sharp close-up, but you have to work fast.

I have a portable tripod but these guys are just to fast for me. You have to know our area to understand. We live basically in the jungle with not much choice even to mount a portable tripod. Mostly its to much underbrush, vines and broken trees here. But I keep trying.

Great color and light and angle of this shot.
The details are incredible and out standing. I love that I can see the scales of this little guy and the gold color in his eyes. What a fabulous image . SO green.
The three branches up front is a nice addition as it shows how camouflaged this little guy is. I love it.

I know this snake may be harmless, they still scare me. You've captured a nice clear shot of her, yes i like her dress too lol. I like the background tree she is on, there is something distracting on the left. Maybe a closer crop? Its still a wonderful shot, i enjoyed viewing.

No The color doesn't change to blue but if she bends her head in the right light she got a golden touch on it.

Thank you so much for your kind and generous review. I know many people have trouble with snakes. It's in our culture and religion. That's why I posted her. Everybody want to kill that little guy. It is not dangerous at all to go close to this snake. She is to small to bite my little finger.
