This is a amazing shot. I've tried to take macro photos of bees myself and its definitely not easy.

Welcome back!! Very good lighting to make the bee stand out. Excellent details and nice presentation. It looks like a tab bit of too much contrast.

Yes, it is more difficult, especially if you are using a non-micro (or macro if you prefer - Nikon calls them micro lenses) lens. And will not get that close to a bee (allergic to all insect bites).

Well done. I was going to ask if you saw his passport but see you were in Crete. What a great shot- good lighting, excellent focus. I love when I can see the eyes. Looks like you even combed his hair. You should be proud of this one.
