the first thing that caught my eye is the detail in this, the fact that it is sitting on a green leaf just adds to the clear cut image, this is very good

Don't be so humble this is a very good macro and ranks up there with the other ones. You did an excellent job with focus, lighting, and presentation. Dave

Thank you very much.

Insects are so neat looking up close. I'm not sure if it's my monitor or not but this seems over sharpened. Also, the glare on the fly's wing is a bit distracting to me. The last thing I see are two patches that aren't black/dark like the rest of the background (bottom left at leaf and top right above leaf). I like the frame you used and I think your compostion and colors are good. Thanks for posting :)

Thank you very much for the review, and thank you for pointing out the errors. The dark areas were pretty black already, so I was more or less just going to even them out. Never saw that I had missed out some spots.

I know catching a shot like this can be downright frustrating. Nature can be a difficult beast to work with. I commend the original photograph not only for the work it took to capture but for the elements it follows; great balance and clear, crisp imagery. I am afraid that your work in the editing bay needs a little more precision though. The top right corner; it is clear that you used the eraser tool to take out the background of this image. You had the right idea; doing so really brings your focal point to the front of this piece. But you missed a spot, and that REALLY puts a hole in this piece. You don't want the public to see your photoshop work. That's one of those understated rules of photography. Everyone knows you do it, but the second they see what you are doing you're a fraud. You have another spot at the bottom left portion of the leaf, right where it meats the bottom border. Gotta clean that work up!
Cool shot. Have a little more patience when editing and you will have something with your work. look forward to your next work!

Thanks for pointing out the errors. I have received a lot of review on this photo, and it is just you and one other member that has noticed or pointed out the missing spots. I use a lot of time and a great deal of patience in my post porcessing. I just did not see the missing parts. I will do something about it for sure. Thank you very much for the thorough review.

Your work shows. It's a cool photo and you had the right idea in masking out the background. I wouldn't have noticed at all had it not been for those two little spots. Great work.

Very nice shot. Good composition and DOF. Even his little feet are good and sharp and the leaf with the background black is very good. Does look a little over sharpened or did you use an effect of some sort. Anyway nice work and note sounds like you need a hot cup of tea:)
