So cool my friend, you should do well in the contest. I recognize this exact bird, i do. Wonderful timing and a perfect composition.

What a fabulous action shot. There is so much going on here! The water, the wings, the fish. Very energetic and well worth the wait. Thanks for sharing.

You have a really nice shot here. Good balance and flow of imagery, and while I am not entirely sold on the tonal range (the overall piece appears somewhat dominated by gray tones of the darker range) you do feature some real good contrast, particularly at the focal point and that is key. The form and extension of the heron at this moment is what really sells this piece. I think I would have liked to have seen it as more of a close-up shot... maybe crop it down to where the stump and the tip of the heron's left wing both slightly leave the canvas area. My reasoning behind that is because when your imagery leaves the confines of the canvas... even if just a bit.. it causes the viewer to be engulfed in the piece. It tells them that there is more going on in the photo than just what we can see and that helps to immerse the viewer in your work and create intrigue. Yeah, I'm suggesting a dramatic crop and I do not know if the photo is able to withstand that amount of cropping without losing some detail. It's just a thought.
Despite all that I really think this piece will do well in the contest. You captured a unique moment with good form and precision and that is key to getting a good photograph. Good luck, I look forward to voting!

Thank you so very much! I like your thoughts on the crop. This was taken at about fifty feet. I have not looked at it that tight so I am not sure, but think it may lose too much detail. I will check it out!

What a shot, he is wonderful. Everything so clear down to the droplets of water as he comes in to land on the weedy stump. Nice contrasts and details. A standard for me to aspire to.

It is masterful the made picture! The moment full of dynamics of an event is very well chosen. Little bit more before a flying bird - it would be better than empty space, but also without it it is very good!
