Wow, very powerful story and artist's notes. Thank you for sharing that.
Nice capture, and yes, the light does play up the idea there though there was great tragedy, the people must hvae had a glimmer of hope, however grimy or covered up.
Thank you for sharing!

A very compelling story...The photo has great lighting to accompany the photograph. Colors and angles are really nice here and lots of clarity. I'm not a big fan of large borders this one kind of works but still looks like it takes away from the photo. just a personal opinion and feedback doesn't affect the critique. Great POV for the focal point. Nice job!

Your notes add to the appreciation of this shot. It adds so much to it. The composition is very well done. The light does convey that expectation of hope. A very emotive image

very interesting shot. I like the lonelyness this shows here. I was watching a program on the histry channel the other day on Auwshitz, it was call, "Nazi Snapshots, Postcards from hell". It was done through the hollicost museum, It was based on a couple of photo albums they found long after the war, one was a scrapbook by the commendant of the camp from May 1945 until the camp was freed by the Russians. and the other was shot by a german soldier who was a journalist for the war effort. He shot the prisoners coming into the camp and through the process of sorting out who would work and who would be sent to the gas chambers. It was very sturring to watch and very informative, If you happen to get a chance to watch it do. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much. On the guided tour we saw and heard the same story. I have even some photos of the hidden photos.

very moving, to read these words and confirm exactly how i felt on my own trip here. the fact is, we can only imagine the true horror of hell on earth!
on an artistic level this is a well framed and lighted composition. photos such as this, have both validity and documentation worth. as a photographer, however grim the subject matter you still have to get the best shot possible and here it is.

You have taken a very touching subject and done what should be done. Recorded it. Because none should ever forget a place like that existed. In doing so you captured it in such a way that the darkness never overpowers the light. Hope was outside that place. Yet the penetrating aspects of this photo lay inside for me. I can see those who are not there and I'm sad for them. If you have to give it away, give it away. Just don't let it go away. That is what this picture shows me.
