Your digital painting has strong initial impact. The colors are brilliant and harmonious, giving vibrancy to the picture. The composition is lovely, and the stalks make lovely colorful lines.

I like red too, and I really like these red Iris'. I like the way you managed the background, and the greens associated with the flower.
I do think personally I would like the reds to be deeper, but that's just me, no points removed for my personal likes.
thanks for sharing.

You're right, Annie. The only true, and rare they say, red iris, are a deeper kind of burgundy red. At least that's the only ones I could find on the Internet. I do still have this in layer, and eventually will try to redo them darker. But then I will also have to lighten the background some. Thanks a million for the great review!! I really appreciate it. :)

Nice capture here however this is a lot softer than it should be to really be a good photo. You might have done something in the download. Nice background here with the darker green.

Pooh, this is not a photo, it's a painting. LOL. Thank you so much for the 5er, but did you mean "photo?"

WOW - I am getting old. I was sure this was a photo. I AM SORRY! Please forgive me for bing so damn blind.

That's OK...lol. Although I did sharpen and clarify it more, it's still too soft, huh? Thank you, Pooh, and I'll see what more I can do to it.

No, it looks real good.

yep, i really like the complementary background, it works very well. the flower and the 2 blossoms give a nice feeling of balance, emphasized even more by the tried up blossoms at the bottom of the 'pyramid'

this is a very interesting view of these very well created digital flowers, beautiful color tones of reds to greens enhancing the soft focus and glow nicely, good depth of field and the composition works along with the blurred out background which helps them to stand alone and with confidence, great work here, thanks for sharing.

Really beautiful Shawn.
The colours are so wonderfully vibrant, and the sense of depth you've managed with them, and by using the blurred background, is superb. The blues in the leaves are just glowing with life.
Just a little troubled compositionally by the green stem on the right being a bit close to the frame.
And if you don't mind me asking (and please don't think this is condescending - I wouldn't dream of assuming I'm any sort of expert compared to you), what image size did you use for working on this? The edges, especially on the flowers, are a bit blurry, and I was wondering if that was the effect you were after, or if perhaps the file size you used was a bit too small to get sharper edges.
Anyway, great work and wonderful impact...and sorry if I offended you :)

Hi, Sir Thomas. This one is as it is shown here is 700h x 450w at 300ppi. The larger one of this is 700 x 700. I did this different than the others; this one I did with the smudge brush, the way I usually paint. I just tried to sharpen and claify it more, but don't know if it made it better or worse...lol. Thank you for the exceptional review, and maybe you can tell me about what size you work at and what ppi. You can send it in a message if you don't want to give away trade secrets to the world...lol. Again, thank you, Sir Thomas :) Maybe, if you are so inclined, you can give me a tip on resizing also. My program doesn't seem to resize it still looking like I painted it. It's driving me nuts!! L0L!

I wish the rating bar had offered me 6 stars to give you on this one. Its just beautiful and so impressive. I love red too :)
The flowers pop against the blurred background the the color harmony is fantastic. A pleasure to view and review.

Very nicely done. Really like the color combination you used on this. Well drawn and painted. Really gives them a different look being red. Kind of a fantasy look. Nice thing about a painting. You can do almost anything with it. Good background. Enjoyed viewing it.

Now this is indeed a remarkable piece, especially for its strong color harmonies. It appears that you understand how high-frequency reds and yellows, which generally do not harmonize well with their low-frequency complements, can be made to do so nevertheless by a strategic manipulation of their color values. In this case, you have maximized the values of your low-frequency greens against the clever diminution of your high-frequency reds and yellows thus compelling their resulting harmonious relationship. An understanding of the physics of color and its interactive properties are paramount to being a successful artist. --Dr. Carlton
