One thing that strikes me whenever I have the opportunity to review your pieces is what a vast imagination you have to tap into when doing your pieces. You seem to specialize in a particular medium but as far as content goes you are all over the map! I think it is really nice to be able to look at people's portfolios and see a variety of interests and topics represented in their work. It shows desire to grow and explore. I like the height this piece has with the water cascading down the rocks. I feel you have shown the movement of water well and the moonlight glinting off the levels of flowing water adds interest. I think that you have also shown the light created by your "fireflies" well by making the areas surrounding their "glow" a lighter tone...my one suggestion of improvement in this piece is just in the number of "fireflies" you have present in the piece, possibly have had making them a tad smaller would have cut down the noise of this artwork. I realize that in fact when fireflies are present that there are either a million of them or the lone guy out there blinking away- but in your drawing I feel that the amount/size of them over powers the rest of the intricate detail you have present. Other than that -hats off to you for showcasing your imagination once again and giving us all something interesting to review! Thanks, Crystal

you know what is sad this is originally 11x14 the scanner could only pick up 8x11 so i know you not getting the full picture. when i was a teenager, i used to live along side the natchez trace in port gison, ms and around april and may these fireflies would come out in the millions...its really captivating out on a dark night going down the old trace (gravel road) or along side the bayou to see the multitudes of fireflies...i think steven speilberg would be running to get his camera...lol...my girl remember this and that is why they are projected this way..i now know i should have explained that in the write up. i am so happy that you have enjoyed this and do appreciate you taking the time in giving me this great review.

I did really like it MKFlood, your talent with markers is incredible...I don't think I could accomplish half of what you do in this medium even if I tried my hardest. The one thing with reviewing is that we only have the post to go off, not the story in detail, not the feelings or the memories that go along with it. We aren't in the artist's mind and often what we feel as an artist or like in our own work just can not be appreciated by a reviewer. It is often hard to get honest reviews, sometimes it is hard period to even get reviews because your work doesn't appeal to everyone all the time...you get the money hunters and you get the haters and people who don't want to hurt your feelings....it is a tough job being a reviewer I think! I think sometimes it is hard getting reviews too because I often wonder which category the reviewer fell into ...I like reviewing your work because it is interesting, something I admire cause I couldn't do it and in the end regardless of what any reviewer says it comes down to what inspires you, that you like it and if you are proud of it- You have a talent and if you and your daughter can look at this and remember a special memory or time that to me is what is important about this piece. I must thank you as well for being a receptive artist who is willing to hear what people have to say without getting your panties in a knot about it.LOL You keep up the great work-you're an inspiration to all! This is a nice drawing. The image has good depth to it. I like the way you have the water coming down over the rocks. The water fall is a nice focal point. Nice use of colors. The piece is well formed and balance. Nicely done. Good luck with the contest.
