This is really a great shot. For sure an action one. You got it both in this image. The movement of the bird, and the fish in its beak. Great stop action here. Your focus is pin sharp and it is so many nice and clear details to be seen. Like the splash of water. Excellent use of light. I like the rings in the water being blue against the green and the lovely reflections. Perfect placement within the frame and nicely cropped. I think this is a lovely composition with good balance and DOFF.

I suppose there is a fair bit of waiting around in bird photography? But when you get shots like this I bet its really worth it! Great central composition works very well here. The photo is sharp and the exposure is excellent. I feel this is a very good work in every respect. Well done! Good luck in your contest!

would give you more on this but run out, this is a superb action shot great initial impact on heron with awesome backdrop colours really captured the action well overall a super composition technically excellent, good luck in comp.

Caught at a critical moment, but even the next few second of this exercise in heron fishing is when the fish is manipulated in the herons beak and the fish is swallowed head first. You could have stopped down your aperture a couple of stops and made the foreground post a little sharper. This is still a great shot.
