Excellent framing of the photograph. The lighting is good creating great shadows in background. Focus on the deer fawn is very good.

This is a great head shot of the deer. You are so lucky to have them come out and walk towards you. Great composition, focus and detail. Good artist notes. Well done. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

I guess I'm out of over 5 stars. This should have one Willie; I'm sure you will be well rewarded by additional viewers. Your mastery of the camera is just super; how do you get such great exposures in such bright sunlight with shadows? Super photo

This is very good. Great composition and, once again, the important of shadow and light can be seen. A very sharp and clear image which is needed for this kind of image. Good job.

This is an artistic presentation of Bambi the way you have composed him into your frame.

COMPOSITION
It is nice that he is sneaking into the frame and that you have given him plenty of room to walk into, it shows you thought about placement, framing and that you worked on this upload.

To my eyes, and I'm not docking marks here, I would have cropped the left just a touch more...NOT A LOT...just a touch as the space seems to unbalance the image. The other thought is to give it a vertical presentation because as you know, vertical presentations always show strength, so a long vertical would have worked instead of a rectangular presentation, it's just a thought.

Unlike other reviewers on this site, I will not deduct marks for artistic interpretation and your cropping and composing is an artistic interpretation and my judgement is subjective, neither right nor wrong.

The initial impact of this upload is very strong all thanks to your great technical expertise which I will talk about later.

As far as story telling ability it's there, full of ahhhhh's and ohhhhh's at this cute little face.

TECHNIQUE
Your technical ability is perfect as the star of the show is razor sharp the way he should be.

Your exposure is perfect and I love the colour harmony of his textured coat against the green grass, in his natural surroundings.

The light you shot this fellow in is a bit harsh but passes. Had you had an overcast day those harsh shadows would have been softer, giving this image a softer feel. Can you also see the darkness of the shadows in the background? But this little one is in the spotlight.

SUGGESTIONS
There is a trick bird photographers use called "eye catch" and what they do is lighten the eye of the bird in photoshop. I have learned that this technique can apply to other wee beasties. I've used the eye catch technique on dogs, elephants, monkeys to bring the eye out a bit more. You could have gone into this fellows eye and dodged (to some extent) the pixels which are light and brightened them up a bit, what would have happened then is that the connection between us and him would have been stronger.

Also, another suggestion is about your POV, your camera angle. Try to get eye level with all you photograph, from bugs in macro to birds, to people and always make the eyes sharp...this is only a guide of course and as we all know guides and rules are made to be broken.

Still, it's a lovely catch.

Such a clear capture of the fawn that he appears able to walk right out of the photograph into the room! Nicely cropped and beautiful color. He looks great against the green foliage. Good shot! Good luck in the contest.
