Wow - what a sad moment and beautiful initiative to honor your big brother - this flower ¡r is so soft and beautiful fragile like love is that cares - you have chosen the perfect color of rose and also the perfect state of evolution for this dedication as the love stays love kept inside, held in the heart, keeping the connection - the rose shines in the darkness as he is gone in the invisible realm the rose shines here and you hold the light alive - very nice shot , technically perfect - the essence of this post is most beautiful - thanks fro sharing, great message behind

Yes, dear. It's almost October, and sometimes, that sadness crept in. Will be 2 years. Thanks for the personal thoughts and the precious time to review. That rating is great.

I'm sorry for your loss. This is a great tribute. I wish this was a scratch and sniff. Your depth of focus is amazing. The colors and lighting are bright and vivid. You've framed it perfectly. Great job!!!

A sad story but I can reflect on your comments as I put my family though hard times after a serious motor bike accident last April and am still recovering. The single rose a nice tribute nicely framed and in focus simple but a poignant symbol of respect.

Oh, Jaguar, are you doing okay? Hope your coping well with the process of healing. You're so blessed, you survived it! Thanks for the thoughts, and your precious time to review. That rating is really great. Praying that the Lord, will give you and your family renewed strength and hope everyday.

I like the colors over a black background and the rose petals are complementary to the green stem. I do believe that the image is slightly soft and without the crisp detail that one would expect in this kind of photograph. When you have such a black background you do not have to look to throw it out of focus and you could use a small lens opening to give you more depth of field. This picture really stands out however.

Nice shot!
This is pretty. I like the color and the background looks good. The reason for the four and a half is because the focus is soft. You need to have good sharp focus. I see you shot this at f5.6 which gives you a very shallow depth of field. Next time concentrate your focus on the front side and use a smaller aperture setting... say about f8 or smaller. This will help the d.o.f. and will allow more of the subject in focus. I hope this helps.

I read your notes and I feel for you. I lost my younger brother when he was 45 years old. He went out to play rugby as he always did and never returned. He came off the field after the game and dropped down dead. Sudden death syndrome. When your time is up that is the way to go - but unfortunately for family it is terrible. No time to get used to having a love one who is ill and might die. I agree with your last sentence wholeheartedly.

Thanks, Susan, for also sharing something sacred and personal to you. Yes, sudden death might really be painful, as it comes without a warning. I agree with you, too. Take Care. I appreciate your precious time to review and your thoughts.

This is a very striking image. The rose really stands out from the background very well. The composition is spot on and the focus is very well balanced. The use of light highlights the bud beautifully

You are so right. We tend to take each other for granted in so many ways. I think generations do this as well and we have lost the bonding thing. I also think we get caught up in pettiness as well. I recently found this saying. Am I living or just breathing. It made me take a step back and realise i was doing more breathing than living. I am changing this and now doing more the opposite. Your brother has had a big influence on you in the past and you will have happy memories of him. I am glad you havaent got any spikes on this rose. Love the dark background making it stand out. One day you will start living again. All the best in your life.

Excellent tribute to a a dearly loved departed brother. Don't worry, he's happy up there now...
Well, here the subject placement is appealing.
The peach color of the bud is not the conventional one--very sophisticated.
The diffused focusing is visually soothing.
The lighting is dramatic with a dark backdrop.
Great short depth of field.
Thanks for sharing...

Didn't even noticed it. Maybe, get up and have some hot chocolates. It is almost October, and sometimes, the sadness crept in. I'm singing his favorite song today. "I will" by Beatles. Anyway, it is fun to grow up with five brothers, but losing one, is really hard.
