I love the beautiful, graceful and playful mammals and they do dominate - as if they are jumping towards you (in keeping w/ their curious and friendly nature). The 2 stars are very nicely rendered, but I'm also impressed w/ the drops and splashes of water - how ever did you save out those whites - they look so authentic.

Many thanks for your great review. I used masking fluid for the droplets of spray.

Really a very lovely pice Suzanne. You certainly got the dolphins to dominate the scene, just as you wanted. Excellent details and depth and very realistic work. Shirley

Beautifully done, Suzanne.
I'm a photographer by inclination but this caught my attention, I suppose, because of subject matter. I do a lot of nature photography.
But I'm a big fan of watercolor. And what you've done here is just beautiful. First of all because of the dramatic form of the dolphins and the playful action you've captured.
Then, the techniques of the background behind them, the splash of water each creates, and the abstract watery reflections below.
And your idea of not putting much detail in the water works wonderfully - you've gotten a very dramatic impact from giving them the emphasis.
It's such a beautiful shot - so well rendered in watercolor. Love the texture you've achieved.
I just like it very much and had to tell you.

Beautiful watercolor of Dolphins up high out of the water. The lighting is wonderful on their sleek bodies, the shadows show how they move, and the water cascading down their bodies and off their tails is cool. I like how you have kept them simple without all the detail. They look elegant in their element. Love to watch them in person. I have really enjoyed how you captured them in your watercolor art and all the blue/purple colors you used. Great presentation, composition, and technique. Lynne

Very nice, Suzanne! I love the composition. Great job on the dolphins, and keeping the water less detailed was an excellent choice. The subtle cloud work in the sky adds interest and texture, but in such a way that it also does not overpower you main subject also. Super job!!

What a wonderful painting. The dolphins look very realistic. Sky and water areas are well done also. Really like the small splashes of water coming up as they are jumping. Good attention to details. Painting has a lot of life to it. Enjoyed viewing it.

These have always been my favorite of all the sea creatures and I find this a spectacular presentation of two amigos at play. Not only that - but you have positioned each such that one gets a full view of their graceful forms and inquisitive faces. The background is perfect and you should be so proud of this lovely - truely lovely - creation. WOW Sue :))))
