Very nicely captured photo of this past history. What could a person imagine being bunked with a group of strangers sharing the same room with no privacy of their own, no sense of security for oneself or personal belongings. SCARY! Thank you for sharing.

Initial Impact: I would suspect this photo shows in much better light than it did in early 1940's. Lighting: is ambient outdoors light. Light of hope presentation. Color harmony: good. For maximum impact all these photos should have been converted to B&W. Center of interest: the windows passed the bunks. Cropping: is good. Focus: is sharp. Action: Nothing. Depth of field: is barely burring the background. Story telling is in the Title and Artist's notes.
Comments: Good composition.

Thank you very much. I think you are right about using B/W, but for some reason I am always a bit "scared" to turn an image into that.

You are welcome. When you are in your digital darkroom make a copy of the shot, like this one. If you are using PS save off one of them as the original and get out of it. Go to the copy now and convert. You original is always safe to use again and again.

I know all this. When I said "afraid" I was thinking more in the line of the viewers not liking the image in B/W. As you perhaps have noticed, people have very diffrent opinions about how a photo should be. They think with their harts instead of using an academical approach. I realize that my photos from Auschwitz are not better technique than a lot of other wonderful photos you can see on FAR. Just average, I would say. But they hit a mental and subjective feeling for a lot of viewers. I know how good I am, and therefore I also know it is long way to perfection.

I think you underrate yourself just a bit, but it is also good to be humble. I had a few shots of black people and the reaction to them was extremely slow. It was not the quality but the subject matter. I have just about seen it all but I know there is something else coming to give me a curve.
I would say, test the waters. If it doesn't go well, you can disable and the scores will not count. Good luck with with deciding which way to go. Be brave.

Thank you for your kind words. Today I really needed them.

Just try one B&W about the camps. If you post more make it something completely different. The Rhine river, a castle. May God give you good wisdom today.

I will take your advise. I will send one more from Auschwitz and one from The Christmas Market in Krakow. People probably want something to be ceerfull about, after I have bombarded them with "Nact und nebel" - translated to "Night and fog" - used as an expression by the Nazists for those who disappeared without leaving any trace. I think I am a bit depressed. It is time to cheer up, and get into a Christmas mood.Thank you very much for taking your time to give me valuable answers and feed back. It is highly appreciated

A truly heartwrenching story and your photo captures it perfectly. From a critique standpoint, composition, light, focus are all good. Thank you for sharing...a story that can never be told too many times.

This is a very powerful image. Your angle and perspective tells the story very well. Great focus and clarity. But more than techs, I believe you have captured a bit of the spirit that kept these people going through such terrible hardships.

how very sad, and so ironic, in that this quarters could have been used by us in Marine Corps Boot Camp, or a summer camp for children, but never to remove all hope from thousands of humans, reducing their existence to that of an animal. Far too many people have no concept. Thank you for the capture and your notes.

Great story telling in this photo, and excellent notes about this horrible tragedy in human history.
Normally I don't care for frames around photos, but in this case it really works well.
I think the only thing that could be improved is if you had moved a bit to the right so the window would be centered between the beds.
Other than that, this is a superb shot.

I do not have the words to express the impact of this image and the corresponding story. It is beyond my comprehension and my heart just can't take cruelty of any kind. This image does portray exactly what you've entitled it. God bless them all. Thanks for sharing it.

This an outstanding example of simple well presented photo journalism. I would love to see it in B/W but it is effective in color as well.
