This is so much like a beach scene in a place called Blouberg in Cape Town, in fact I've taken a few shots like this with Robben Island in the distance! Naturally I love this cause its so close to home. Again I marvel at your work with textures and colour. Enjoyed the composition immensely, again a pleasure to view!

I love this.
I love how the "V" leads the eye perfectly.
The dog adds great interest but I like how he is not the only point of interest.
Very nice, Joe

As usual very nice color tones with this, like how you have included one of your rescue dogs Kohi, he adds good interest to the painting, like the blue of the sea, very nice to view, well done..Brian

Nice detail of the beach leading up to the ocean! I noticed the sky is usually overcast in your paintings. Is this just because it's winter now in New Zealand?
I was wondering if the name Kohi has any meaning? In Japanese the word kohi means coffee.

Thank you for your nice comments. We're not sure what Kohi means in Maori - it might be spelt Kohe - but he had the name when my daughter got him. Interesting that it means coffee in Japanese!

I thought this was a good job. I enjoyed the story that accompanied as well. The beach looks very serene. I like the details of the sand, grass and water.

Both of our dogs are rescue dogs too! One was treated very badly like Kohi, but are the picture of health and vitality today, they both LOVE the beach and this painting reminds me so much of them. I like the way he (and the ocean breakers) are framed by the dunes. I think the ocean work is exceptional in all your works! Very realistic and very classic looking. Fun to view. thanks.

Thank you for this moody picture and even more thanks for being so kind to mistreated animals.I like the way the banks of the shore here bring your eye to your happy dog. You can feel the freedom and joy he is experiencing. Love it.

Wonderful painting. Nice details including the shadow of the dog, excellent use of your shadows and lights to bring up good depth. Well done. Shirley
