Nice creative picture with good contrast. I like how part of the scene is enlightened. Very eye pleasing and easy understanding.

Now that is one extraordinary piece of art work. I am impressed. It is Hallmark quality all the way. Get this out to a publisher before the ink dries. I love every square inch of this one. Simplistic in an over all view , that only adds to the charm of this one. Your artist notes add so very much to this one. Go for it. grassroots08

Thank you so much. I appreciate your enthusiastic and generous review highly.
Unfortunately no publisher is interested on my work [or I don't know how to find the right one].
Publishers take from established artists. I'm just an amateur.

There is something to be said about "The Right of Passage" It is a Catch 22. They like to deal with someone who already has at least a credit or two. So how does the nebie get on board. I sent my work to a local paper for free. I did this over a two year period. Not a lot of work, mind you. But they took it because it didn't cost a dime. Then I went to them (over the phone). I wanted to now receive payment for my work . I offered to let them see a piece for consideration (Money this time) She said just keep it to 300 to 400 words and I will buy it. And without seeing the piece she bought it over the phone. She said "I've seen your work(The free some from earlier) and I like it." So there is an idea. (But go in and approach the 'editor' from the START, so she or he gets to see who you are.)
Cheers, I have sold 6 more stories to magazines since,

Thank you so much but this doesn't work for me. I live in Mexico were I permitted to sell my work. Truth I have a residency for Mexico I'm unable to get a Licence for a self employed artist without a own gallery.
Of curse several of local papers made for tourists took my work for free especially including my photos and written bilingual [Spanish/English or Spanish/German]. I quit giving my work to them after I discovered that my photos were used without permission in several advertisements of several business especially real estate. Truth I have copyrights for the US it doesn't applied for Mexico so I couldn't even protest.
Sometimes I attend local art shows but can only sell to tourists what are willing to give a check or send the money to my US check account. A dangerous business because not everybody send the money.
But thanks For the advise. It is a excellent one.

Very beautiful and great for a Christmas card. I love the picture of the mother and baby with the faded music for silent night. Very nice. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

Just love what you've done with this, cleo.
Beginning with the parched paper you've created which seems to be so perfect - then the original musical arrangement - the image really begins to take shape with what you've added.
I'm amazed at your sketching talents - I've always thought of you doing photography and really hadn't considered your art skills. Though with your background I should have known.
The image is quiet and soft and very appealing in the Christmas spirit. I like the font and the stars which are so appropriate.
And the history of Silent Night is simply lovely. Very much like one of the other images you did with an original music score and the history you included.
But this history is so involved and so much a part of the song itself. Amazing how many times I've sung or heard the song and never considered the man Joseph Mohr. That is sad. It's these things we should know of. And I appreciate you putting it down for all of us to learn from.
A beautiful work of art you've created!
This had to take a lot of time and effort - but you've created something very special for us.

Thank you so much.
Yes there was time involved. A lot time before I ever started work. Most the time I create in my head what I wan't.
In this case I wanted a piece in the TRUE spirit of Christmas and in the spirit of Mohr and Gruber [who wrote the music] as honor and homage for both of them. I wished I could do more to make the story known. Even in their homeland Austria and the neighboring Germany they are almost unknown true the song is part of almost every Christmas celebration.
Thanks for the compliments on my sketch but I'm only average.[Right is the theater again: sketching costumes and decorations.] I'm not painting much anymore. Only small pieces sometimes. My eyes got to bad. I can't see the canvas in it's full size clear enough. That is when I found the digital art. I still see the screen. It is small enough for my tunnel vision. But I'm not bitching: These bad eyes are a blessing. I see as an camera not as human eyes do and I found my art: photography and digital.
I have some more of these Christmas carols in my head for next year of curse it comes with the stories.
Thanks again for your throuought review as allways uplifting and encouraging.

Fascinating thought and beautiful uplifting attitude - your eyes seeing as a camera and not as human eyes. I can hear others mumbling and groaning and asking for pity if the eyes aren't 20/20. But you accept it as a blessing. And the additional blessing in that you attribute it to having found your art. That indeed you have done! And I love the joy you express with your photographic art!

Thank you so much. Your messages are one of the most uplifting things in my life.

So glad it was an agreeable review for you. I'm trying to be critical but you don't give a fella much of a chance. Always have loved your work.

Good presentation. Good color harmony. Good technique. Good lighting. Good depth of field. Good center of interest. Great story telling ability. I liked how you kept to the silent night theme by tucking away Mary and baby Jesus between the notes and Merry Christmas. It is a very good three dimensional feel and a very peaceful presentation.

Cleo this is so nice! You've focused on what Christmas is. Mother Mary and Jesus. I like the simplicity yet the great detail i see. The music style sheets used as background is such a creative idea to set everything off. Well, well done.

Lovely creation, I really like the concept, Nicely faded mother and the kid with the notes on background, i also like the color of background, and the title, Silent night, perfectly suits to this art. Well done and all the best for the contest.

What a beautiful song, and thank you so much for spreading the story of the song which is an amazing series of circunstances. It was like a spark that started a fire that warmed a villiage. LOVELY WORK!! BEAUTIFUL CARD WITH EXCELLENT MEANING!
