What a beauty, cleo.
Love the colors that seem to be so complimentary and harmonious throughout the photo.
The shapes and angles and the patterned effects of the palm he is on adds so much to the overall effect. Love your lighting.
Couldn't be a better framing or positioning of the Mockingbird the way you've caught him on the branch.
We have Mockingbirds here that are pretty much the same, shape and size-wise, but they are gray - not nearly this colorful.
A beautiful shot that looks so natural and in the spirit of being where you would normally see them environmentally.

Thank you so much. I was a long time thinking what photo I should post. I have some Parrot and Tucan what is much more spectacular [colorful and unusual] but than decided to post something more usual in it's true environment [you got it!]. There will be plenty other occasions for Tucan, Parrot and company. Did you see the differences of the three bird pictures I posted? [I don't mean the stile and medium but what is in it, the message you could say.] I have to admit it is a test also what people think and feel about pictures. How they react to different presentations. What are their priorities. It is very interesting so far. I tell you when the contests are over.

Well . . . to tell you the truth I'll have to go back and look at the three different bird pictures again to see if I can relate some similarity to the three. Off the top of my head, at the moment, I can recall any message that comes from all three. I've been a bit scattered lately. I didn't get to vote in the last bird competition voting. I'd reserved a spot for it but the deadline hit while I was offline. But I'm looking forward to what you have to say about them.

You are NOT scatterbrain. It's me who is complicated again. To help you out. It's not the same message but a test on our audience. Actually on how people look at, see and absorb pictures.
The Mockingbird is a not so spectacular bird in it's not so spectacular natural habitat [a more journalistic picture].
The painting of the Motmot is more unusual because the bird is. But the bird is still in his natural habitat and both, bird and jungle have natural colors. [I had some otherwise enthusiastic reviews telling me the picture isn't colorful enough.]
Now the Hummingbird. This bird is not even a species but a colorful fantasy of an ideal hummingbird. So are the flowers.
Now think how you reacted to the pictures and than go to the voting booths and look how the pictures end up. I think this will you tell something about reception of pictures. Of curse there are quality issues to and the other entrees many better than mine. To look at the winners will tell you something too.

I will do that. Sounds like an exciting insight awaiting. Will let you know my reaction. Thanks for pointing it all out.

Your welcome. Will be interesting what you think of it.

Beautiful color & sharpness!
This appeals to me from a technical standpoint - but I wonder if it would appeal to me more artisitcally if the subject was not in the center - but was offset through some creative cropping.

Thank you so much for your generous review.. I tryed all kinds of cropping, I dislike to center my objects but in this case it seamed the best version.

This is another lovely simple statement, yet striking in its composition. Nice light play and focusing. All up this is a very pleasant shot. Good luck in the competition! Robin

Wonderful angle for this shot. Your focus and the light is good for this. Lovely blue sky to set off the bird. Nice technique and your presentation is excellent.

Really love the color in this shot! It is so vibrant. You've caught this pretty bird in a great location and a great pose to show off her pretty body. Best of luck in the contest :)
